Maturity

Througout my life, I've realized that no matter how old I am, I still go through different levels of maturity. 2 years ago, if someone would have asked me to cut their yard, I would've whined, complained, and tried to make up an excuse to get out of doing it. Now, I've realized that I personally don't mind doing work. I actually enjoy it sometimes. I've also realized that different things help me in my maturity "process"... It still seems as though some of the higher grade teenagers have higher maturity levels than me because it seems that sometimes, they don't seem interested in me at all.

What do you think? Do you believe people go through levels of maturity? Discuss! B)

Yeah many people go through it. I get Saturday detentions and I get them a lot so my disciplinarian suggested I did some janitorial work. And I love it for 2 reasons. Seating down for 3 hours feels a lot longer and I only had to mop some rooms.

Yes, totally. :o

However it seems some of the odd eggs sometimes are less mature or more mature than others. For example, there are a few understanding and mature individuals in our grade, but there are also ones who laugh at everything thinking of nasty thoughts and are loud and disruptive. I myself am in the middle, I do several stupid stunts and can be disruptive, however I know when it is time to crack down and put my maturity to work. ;)

Of course we do! Heck, I'm in my 20's and don't feel like getting out of bed or doing anything. Then some days, I feel very powerful. That's just life I guess, I guess we all go through stages of immaturity. Hey, we weren't born adults!

Yea that's what I figured! :P I feel the same way sometimes. I've found that my mood for the day usually depends on how quickly/effectively I wake up in the mornings.

Jjust because you don't find something funny doesn't mean you are mature, it only makes you believe that you are higher than someone by being mature, which is ironically immature (ex: "Hah, I'm better than you, making fun of that so-and-so was not funny at all! I'm mature!). I myself have not reached self-actualization, I'm only a teenager and I'm going to enjoy being mildly irresponsible, disruptive, a genuine asshole, and any other thing I can be, because if I act this way when I'm older, people would not look highly on me or even respect me.

Well, that attitude at the beginning of your post is actually very easy to identify in someone.

I will admit, I do like to have fun and be extremely crazy sometimes. I just have to make sure that the time & setting allows it without any bad reprocussions. (Spelling?)

I'm more mature on here, simply because I cannot express my immaturity online, you just wouldn't understand it, you need to be there, to realize how stupid everything I say and do really is.

When "mature" people don't find something funny it's not to spite people and think of them as immature and us as mature, it's just that we don't find it funny and move on. :ermm:

I've found that doing just that keeps me out of alot of frustration and trouble. Some things are so stupid that it helps to completely ignore it before I allow it to interupt me.

Maturity is just distance form the Dao. The illusion will fade as death approaches.

I know what you mean. A few years ago, I probably wouldn't have minded making any kinds of excuses. Now I feel weak and pathetic just thinking of complaining. I never complain about things no matter how much they annoy me or hurt me.

Exactly, I mean, yeah I can get slightly elitist when I don't find something funny, but I don't think your sense of humor makes you more mature than somebody else, I just think some people 'get' fart jokes, completely irrelevant statements etc, and some people don't, and I just don't happen to 'get' them, but I don't think I'm mature because I find say, The Office funnier than Little Britain, but I prefer it that way. I think I am mature in the way I act though, I know how to treat people, and I don't do incredibly stupid things for no reason, I don't see a need to be disruptive, I prefer to just keep to myself to be honest.
