The end of the human race / possibly Earth will come when we (Amercia) get a President dumb enough to shove Russia, China, or someone else too far, and we just throw all of our nukes at each other, destroying the planet. Destruction is thy name.

Some of my bvelieves come from a famouse phycik who predicted hitler and 9-11 a few hundred years ago he says the end of the world will be in 2032 and an ice age will be in 2012

i think its true because of all the problems you see in the world today

No, I heard about what he's saying, but that was proven faalse a long time ago. Not sure who it was that "predicted it though". But, nobody did predict that ... (except maybe the people that POSSIBLY set it up)

Depends if you define "end of the world" as the "end of the human race" or the "destruction of earth" or the "end of all existance".

The human race will eventually die out but the world will be in tact for billions more years. I get really sick of the argument. How self-centered to think that when the human race falls, that's the end of the world.

agree with what he said so i will speak as if you mean the end of the human race.

I believe we will just fall victim to mother nature which all in all will just be a result of our actions for poluting the earth. There is no doubt that the world will plumit into another ice age that will be worse than any other recorded in time. I don't doubt that at all, but i also don't doubt the predictable lack of action people will take.

Everyone is talking about controling their actions to attempt to repair global warming, but i don't believe it will come fast enough. People care to much about how they look to other people, and trying to save the world i guess is "not cool" to most people. It's pretty rediculous IMO.

2012 is of course an interesting theory, but one thing I'd like to point out is that many people aren't considering it to be the end of the world, rather a new begining.

I think we are dumb, but not dumb enough to destroy each other in nuclear war, and as Postulate said, many will cope and adapt to a nuclear winter. Obivously the Sun will die leaving Earth toast, but I find it highly unlikely that by that time (billions of years) we will still be grounded on Earth, I'm sure we will have expanded beyond the solar system that time. And I think by the time we have spread across the stars we will be too widespread to be destroyed by a single natural disaster, so I think it comes down to either God growing bored of us and blowing us into oblivion, getting pwned by some alien species, or we stick it out for the looooong haul. Although this is a very naive standpoint seeing as how we so know little about the universe, but that's my guess.

oooh. Thanks for reminding me that we're only like... 5 years away from destroying ourselves.

I forgot, damn.

I won't participate in this discussion past this, I've got to go out and make sure we don't kill ourselves.

Earth's magnetic field completely disappearing, humans growing more and more into technology. Nanotechnology will bring the neurons in the human brain closer together, thus allowing the human mind to move at faster speeds. This will not only make humans smarter, but it will make the future of human generations smarter. I think the Earth will end, but not the human race, we will be too smart and the technology in the next 100 years will be so advanced that we, right now, can't exactly comprehend what it will be like.

An important thing here is to differentiate between the end of the world and the end of humanity (at least as we know it). The end of the world is inevitable - one day, the sun will grow into a red giant and evaporate all of the water on earth before burning off it's layers and casting the planets off into oblivion.

The end of humanity...the jury's still out on this one. I think the end of humanity will come in a way described by Dimm - I think the human race will surpass it's current capabilities with genetic technology, growing close and closer with technology and with people as a whole, and become a new, uniform (as in with little or few differences in race and so on) species. Of course the change will be so gradual it will be impossible to detect, until future generations far, far down the road re-examine what humanity once was and discovers itself far unlike it's predecessor.

Well now the reason I'm going to disagree with the WW3 idea is that I don't believe that a war like that could break out any more.

The cold war was the "war" that really never happened. This is because the US went to Russia and said: 'Give up or we'll nuke your ass,' and Russia had the same technology, less, but they still had nuclear bombs.

I think it was 16 in Russia compared to the hundreds that America had.

So even though America totally outstripped Russia in number, they still couldn't handle being hit by even 1 nuclear missile. Because we DO know that the effects are absolutely devastating.

Now there were conflicts in the cold war, but I think 'without' nuclear missiles, that could well have been WW3, instead of a few years of the two countries threatening each other.

Now I'm not denying that there have been conflicts, but I don't think that it could get to that stage anymore.

Say Russia threatens to blow America up.

America threatens to blow Russia up.

China threatens to blow everybody up.

England threatens to blow France up.

France threatens to blow Germany and England up.

And so on (not to mention I threaten to blow Microsoft up).

Now at this stage it could go either way: everyone blows each other up and we all die, or the countries give up because they all decide that they can't win.

Now I'm hoping that they aren't stupid enough to blow each other up.

*looks at George Bush*

Ok,

We're screwed.

I dunno. When ever god decide we should die. then that it.

You *are* god. At least, you just as in charge of things as any other entity in existence, in the past, present, and future...

the South American 2012 prophecy really doesn't imply the end of the world, but the merging of the great forces of humanity, a vast spiritual awakening, a paradigm shift - not in the individual, but in all people and things. There is nothing apocalyptic about it. It marks the end of the world mindset as we know it. I'm so eager for 2012 to roll around that I can barely stay in this same temporal location >_<

The end of the human race, well, who knows a date for that? I think it's best not to speculate, but a hint might help unify our consciousness, or, it might devolve us into a however-many-billion-membered mob.

Oh my dear lord I love you!

Linda Goodman? Please tell me you've read her book! If not, go, read, now!

Anyways. Yes, I am so looking forward to 2012. Ahh, one cool wet morning it will all start and by the time everyone realizes what is happening it will be amazing! And such a perfect time in the Aquarian Age! Spiritual enlightenment and a change in the collective conscience, such glorious times indeed.

From a scientific viewpoint mankind will be eliminated at some point and there will be an end of our world.

People have always said that the world will end... Always. Furthermore... the world will never end. I don't think there is a single event that can wipe out our entire civilization. Not even the sun being destroyed, or some catastrophe in the future. But by the time our galaxy collides with Andromeda or our Sun is destroyed.. I think the human mind will have found a way out of it. I hate doom-sayers >_>

However, Earth is not going to continue on forever. Humanity either... nothing lasts forever to be honest. So I guess you can kinda ignore what I just said. But, it will not take place for a very very long amount of time. No war or comet can destroy and kill every animal/plant/human on earth. :P

I think the End of the World will come before the Sun explodes, it will run out of enough energy to sustain us a few thousand years before that if my Dads science books and my memory are anything to go by.

But by that time I will be dead so won't particulaly be too bothered. But in 5 billions years time I woulda thought we woulda come up with some sort of escape plan.
