It was announced that in late 2009/early 2010, a new themed section will arrive at Universal Studios: Islands of Adventure theme park, in Orlando, dedicated to the magical world of Harry Potter, created by J.K. Rowling

This will include Hogwarts Castle, forbidden forest and hogsmeade village.

Half of me is thinking that this will be awesome. I am a huge Potter fan, and hopefully they'll do justice to the castle and Hogsmeade, making it really cool and authentic. It would be very nice overall. But the other half is me thinking that it will be over run by little annoying kids, not the true fans. =[

I think you'll find it'll be satisfactory, considering the creative director of the movies is working alongside the team to create the park. As for being overrun by kids, I think that'll all depend on what rides are there. And who really says that the little kids aren't true fans? Fans of HP come in many ages and from many cultures, and none are less true of fans than others. The only difference is the extent of the obsession.

Agreed. For example, I've read the enitre series several times, am active on several large Harry Potter websites, and have an extensive knoweledge of characters and items in the books. This will leave me hoping for a realistic, believable, accurate representation of what I read about, not some little park with little kids running around!

Heh, I heard about this, and I think it will be a big hit. ^_^

Whether it does turn out well or not, I highly doubt I will ever go, mainly because I can't see myself going to America any time soon. :P

It will be interesting to see what they will come up with though. ^_^

As for the 'too many kids running around and ruining it' idea, the books, films and other things to do with Harry Potter are for people of all ages really, so you can't really expect the theme park top not have little kids there. :P

I think it sounds really good. I have just re-read the books, and I hope the Park stays on the books description.

Sounds really good though.

It has a lot of potential to be cool and I hope they make it so it is something adults and children can enjoy together. I think Disney has done a good job of catering to both adults and youths alike, I haven't experienced universal studios though so I will just hope for the best. Because of the nature of such a fantasy world I think it'll either be done very well or really poorly - no middle ground.

Some news for those who are not active on hp websites

Main ride in Potter World to be Ford Anglia?
Main ride in Potter World to be Ford Anglia? A news station in Orlando recently filed a report concerning the upcoming Potter World theme park, which clues us in on what may be coming. "Industry insiders" have told Local 6 that the centerpiece attraction in the upcoming Harry Potter theme park will be a "ride in Ron's Flying Car."

Additionally, Universal hints "it may need to retheme the Dueling Dragons and Flying Unicorn roller coasters to become part of Harry Potter's world."

As always, we'll keep you updated on these rumors! Thanks to Hannah and her dad for the tip.
