Recently skin prints have become quite a big thing. I was wondering what is everyones view on them? There are some places you can buy them and they are more popular than places that see fully coded skins, we discussed this a little on IRC.

Whats your opinion? :)

I usually start making one now so I have a visual reference to code the skin I am making.

I think it is dumb how people are selling them though. Especially at such a high price. I mean 15 dollars for a skin print >_< All it is , is an image of a skin. It is completely worthless.

I when people sell them, seeing as most of the time, they're of lower quality than a skin you could get for free, or request for free here. The only possible use I can see in them is mapping out your skin before you make it and come up with possible ideas. Other than testing and mapping a skin out, I see no reason for them.

I also prefer to call them skin templates.

$15 dollars are just a starting bid price on some places, some people charges like 40/50 for buy now. But it's their money, I guess they think it's worth it. I don't have a problem with it.

I refer to them as a "skin template".

As someone versed a bit in this world, I think Skin Templates/Prints aren't wise for a buyer. Because often times, they have to find someone to do the rest of the work too, ending up with a purchase that racked up quite a bit higher of a price than they predicted. It's much smarter to either go for the free resources that look just as good oftentimes, or find someone that's going to do it all for a reasonable price.

I always made them to map out my skins, so I actually have a vault of a bunch of uncoded skins that I will code oneday and release.

Not to mention some of the skin templates are easy to design but not easy to code; people often may other a good amount of money to have it code.
