It's stupid that the people of a different race is offended and the race I told it to are like laughing. Like I called my black friend a porch monkey because we doing a skit for a video (Never got released :@ ) And we were doing it in the street. So this white lady comes up and goes what is wrong with you. Those up tight no fun people piss me off and I'm glad sXePhile (Author) Made this video. |

The problem is that people sue people over such things, kill people over such things, etc. If people weren't so oversensitive it wouldn't matter but the fact of the matter is that some people are sensitive to such things and the first amendment doesn't mean you can vocalize offensive vocabulary. |

Political correctness over here (UK) is beyond a joke. I suggest people watch this and then this. I couldn't agree with this guy more. |

I just got finished watching the videos that Deathless has posted. Since I don't really follow British society I can't really agree or disagree. Hell I don't even follow with american's society cause we're just the dumbest country ever. |

Very true. I'm not sure which annoys me more: playing the [ethnicity/minority category] card or people who kowtow to it. Both are equally bad I suppose since both encourage it. Personally I refuse to walk on the proverbial egg shells. Sensitivity exists to such degrees that it's pretty difficult not to offend somebody and it's not going to kill you. Well... ![]() Political correctness is one of the worst ideas conjured up by modern society. What was wrong with common sense, other than it's apparent lacking? While in theory it's supposed to make interaction between ethnicities and minorities easier, in reality it merely attempts to reduce us to spouting the same acceptable linear words. In an interview my sexuality somehow popped up. Now it's one of the many areas that bosses aren't really allowed to pry into and he was being friendly enough but when he attempted to define it he struggled. I had to interject and say "gay"; I think he was on the verge of almost whispering homosexual like he was asking for sexual favours or something similarly illicit. o_O It really was rather silly. Good find too, Deathless. I think he rather points out the obvious problems we have in this country. Having said that, I agree with SiaGrath's remarks that there's one point I quite disagree with. I supported Jack Straw when he pointed out that the female Muslim garb (apologies but the correct name for it has escaped my head) which covers the face isn't always ideal - contrary to what the papers reported, he didn't demand the woman remove it, merely asked, a perfectly polite and acceptable thing to do. It's a simple fact that human interaction relies quite heavily on body language and, more importantly, paralanguage. Both require to be able to see one's face; hand gestures and posture are only a portion and if you can't see someone's face, the truth is that for many it's quite uncomfortable. In Britain especially we have had to deal with masks being used in violence so it's understandable why many are quite twitchy about it. I do believe however there's no reason to force these women not to wear them and I think his comment - - was quite out of line. That's not a criticism about social interaction problems, that's assuming that the individual has issues which is an unfounded generalisation and sounded like some childish retort. I do agree though that the situation is often blown out of proportion.

Yeah, I wouldn't go as far as insulting them (unless being called a giant pepperpot is a compliment or "having something wrong with you" is too) for their choice to dress like that, but recently I heard that one of the terrorists who made failed attacks in London on 21 July '05 dressed up in (forgot the name also) the Muslim garb. So politely asking them to reveal their faces isn't such a big thing to ask, but as you mentioned, the media/a minority will make a big deal out of it over here. o_O |

If you are offended by racism, then you are immature. It's as simple as that. |

I was once called racist because I said that mexicans speak spanish. They banned an episode of Pokémon because they thought a character was racist. It was a pokémon with a black face. People are way too sensitive, and really, who the hell cares? People should mind their own business, and if they want to prove themselves correct maybe they should invest in the situation first. |

I totally agree, political correctness is a load of bull****. If someone says che-chow-chin-son when imitating a Chinese guy as a joke you shouldn't get offended. |

I personally believe that racist goes a lot farther than just using offensive language, it goes into how you actually think of the race. Most of the time, people are just joking or not being serious when using these offensive phrases but there's always that small minority that ruins it for the rest of us.

I saw those videos a while back. I couldnt agree more. Political Correctness is very stupid and runs amuck in the UK. Whats even sadder in the UK is that racism only seems to go one way. If someone was to call me a 'racist' name (not that I would care) but nothing would be done about it. But if it was the other way around, I would be carted off in a police car for spuing racial hatred. |
