Is suicide against the Qur'an? If not, wouldn't any kind of suicide bombings still be considered wrong anyhow? |

Yes suicide is against the Qur'an. But what people in Palestine for example are doing is a gray areas with some scholars saying it is and other saying it's not. |

Wow, Scholars going against the Qur'an isn't a good thing. But, if you justify killing another while killing yourself in the name of a "God" you really do become a fanatic. |

That made absolutely no sense to me at all. So Dr. Martin Luther King was immature just because he acknowledged racism within America? |

Erm, can I just say... I'm with the whole UK thing, it's a joke over here. I think there is a solution to this. People need to be less ignorant and learn more about eahc others religions, that way, people would know the wrongs and rights. |

Yeah, but we all know selfish ignoramuses won't change, they expect them to change so they can remain rude & ignorant without any repercussions. |

But that still doesn't make teaching the "ignoramouses" the wrong thing to do.. Just makes it an obstacle to pass, in the progress to better involved communities, which will lead to less "political correctness". |

That was completely different. What PEM is referring to is petty little things like jokes. Yes, political correctness is rediculous... to a degree. The fact that Muslim women are allowed to wear veils in schools is rediculous. The fact that nursery children are taught a song called 'Baa baa rainbow sheep' in favour of "equal opportunities" is rediculous. The fact that some churches are now signposted as "civil union centres" is rediculous. The fact that gay people are allowed to marry, however, isn't. People need to draw a line somewhere as to what is overblown, and what is plain common sense. Making a racist joke is just the same as making a joke about a fat kid - most of the time it's not funny, but it's always offensive and extremely hurtful to the person it's about. |

Thats what gets on my nerves the most, replacing words that you would never think cause offense to anyone, but because some idiot in a suit says its offensive everyone goes up in arms. Here are a few more. Brainstorming Ideas is not allowed because it could be offensive to epileptic people :hmm: Garbage men have now become Envronmental Engineers. Black board is a big no no in the class room, however you can still call it a white board. But wait? Doesnt racism work both ways :o Snow Colour Irrevalvance and the 7 vertically challenged men! (Okay, I made that up, but mark my words, give it enough time and it will happen) Black bags are now refuse bags. Bald is now folically challenged. And a few other replacements made to sound more proffesional not to offend anyone. That really, and sorry for the quote, but it really grinds my gears. |

Partly, yes, but I was also saying it about just racism in general, as well as stereotypes. Discrimination and calling someone a nigger are 2 totally different things. Discrimination is wrong and we all know that, whether or not it's through racism,. it's still very wrong. Calling somebody who's black nigger and calling someone who's fat a fat ass are the same exact thing. If anything, calling someone a nigger is even better, do you see other fat people going around to there other fat friends going, "what up my fat ass?" And my point is if you're called a nigger or a gook or whatever other racial slurs exist, and you are offended, you are immature. It's like you giving in to the bully in elementary school, it's just plain stupid. The bully wants to be insulting, but you know you're better than him, so you ignore him or laugh along with him or however you want to cope with a bully. It's all the same, it really is. And as for stereotyping, most of these stereotypes are true, good or bad. I hate it when middle-easterners have a problem with being stopped and checked at airports. Well, maybe it's because you're religion gives you 77 virgins when you die and other people in the past have been crazy enough to believe that deeply about it that they have taken their own life while taking others as well. Or, black people are better at sports or are faster or can jump higher; it may not be the majority, but every time I watch the Olympics or basketball that's who I see. Or the fact that all mexicans are landscapers, well, every landscaper I've ever seen is mexican. The world we live in is so damn uptight and all racism is is just another excuse to yell and sue one another. It's so damn ridiculous how people just care about it. **** your heritage, stop bitching about the past, yes bad things happened, but now you're better off. It's just like elementary school all over again, just on a broader scale, it really is. |

Agreed. I believe about 95% of everyone that gets offended by racist comments or jokes do so just because they want to start trouble. If you take a step back and look at the people who always seem to get offended, are they not generally always trouble-makers? |

So what if people care about their heritage? It's none of your damn business what people find offensive or not. Most people spewing these little jokes have a hint of prejudice behind them. I don't care though, they'll get theirs in the long run. Actually, everyone needs to be the better person instead of just one side. If someone feels insulted then that's their right. |
