So what if people care about their heritage? It's none of your damn business what people find racially offensive or not. Most people spewing these little jokes have a hint of prejudice behind them. I don't care though, they'll get theirs in the long run. Actually, everyone needs to be the better person instead of just one side. If someone feels insulted then that's their right.

It is their right, but it also shows a level of maturity, or lack there of.

We all have a bit of immaturity within ourselves. I'm pretty sure you aren't exempt from expressing immaturity. To say "bleep your heritage" shows immaturity in my opinion, making it seem like you have no respect for their heritage. Luckily, you're in the IFSZ so no one will verbally come down on you like a meteorite.

No one is saying anything about heritage though. :ermm: Most jokes are just that, jokes. Little light humour to laugh about, nothing like hate crimes or anything.

Besides, since when is political correctness about race? Age and sex also come into play. In my opinion, the only time you should really be offended is if they are directly insulting a group of people. If something is a bit over the edge, then just don't laugh.

The world is so uppity about what you say, I really don't care as long as it's not mean.

I never said it was only about race,I was replying to the part where he said "Bleep your heritage, etc, etc". Everyone seems to want someone else to conform so they can seem less wrong and feel okay about what they're doing without a second guess, IMO.

Honestly, if you get offended by someone offending your heritage, then you just have issues. It's your heritage. It's like getting offended at people saying your great granddad had the worst scores in his school of 3.

And as for everyone being a bit immature, yes, everyone is. But it's really only accepted through a positive viewpoint when you're trying to be funny. For instance, sarcasm in the most emphasized of manners. But crying over something someone said? It's just weird, and I'm sure most people would agree with me; which is why I find it weird that people care about racism. And, as I've said before, their's a difference between racism and discrimination or promoting discrimination. And there are also acceptions to fretting about something someone just said, like a threat and the other obvious reasons such as that.

Are you saying that people who have the ability to be emotionally hurt are immature? A racist joke should offend you, maybe not enough to make you mad, but there should be atleast a taint of anger that arises when one is cracked. Otherwise, it shows you have no pride in who you are.

And about the grandfather and his low scores thing, yes, you should be atleast a little offended; if you have pride in your family, or atleast your grandfather.

I'm curious to see what would happen if someone created a thread around a racist joke. I wonder how many people would actually laugh and move on.

Pride... It's just the nice way of calling yourself an elitist faggot. The word pride was used to motivate the scared foot soldier into what would surly mean their death.

And btw, the fact that you said that you should be offended by something as stupid as a joke? Like I said before, if you're going to give in to something that's supposed to be lighthearted and isn't even supposed to be insulting? Then you, my friend, are worse than you think that comedian is. Embrace the fact that your different instead of bitching about the fact that someone pointed it out in a comedic matter.

EDIT:
What would you say if I got offended at your username because my dad is a cop? Whether or not you'd apologize about it, you'd still find it absolutely ridiculous, which is why you have the username. This is partly my point.

What I don't understand is WHY they are called races. A race should refer to two different species. Sure, Black people have extra muscles, and people in colder areas have light hair, but just because two dogs have different fur doesn't mean they can't breed. If a black woman has a child with a white man, will their child be sterile? Hell no. What is REALLY stupid is the lack of a proper term and maturity concerning this. I and a chimpanzee are two different races, but at the moment I believe the offended people ARE chimpanzees. It is called a damn variant people. If you are offended by mere words, then you have no right to dub yourself "mature".

The word "faggot" is an immature term. :D If you have no pride, then you're ashamed. Last time I thought. To the post above me, I'm pretty sure you're offended by certain words too. I like how people pretend they have no emotions whatsoever and are made of steel. The same people will be replying in convtorversial threads, spewing their little offended hearts out.

Wow... now you're going to call me an elitist faggot? Actually, pride is when you feel good about yourself because of your accomplishments. It's the way your brain works. When you do something that makes life easier or more enjoyable, your brain releases pleasure sensors, and you feel happy. When your accomplishments are attacked, it is only natural to feel depressed or angry because what makes you happy is being criticized. That's what pride is my friend.

And also, like I said, I didn't say that you should get all pissed off if somebody cracks a joke about your heritage. I said that it was only natural for you to feel some sort of disadvantage, even if it's only on the subconscious level.

Show me the quote where I said, "Epsilekt is an elitist faggot."

I would never call you an elitist faggot, or anyone on this bored.
Dictionary.com:
Pride: noun, verb
a high or inordinate opinion of one's own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.
The link:
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=pride&x=0&y=0

Heritage: noun
something that comes or belongs to one by reason of birth; an inherited lot or portion: a heritage of poverty and suffering; a national heritage of honor, pride, and courage.

I just thought I'd show you the true definition of the word because you seem to have gotten your definitions twisted. You see, you've stated that, "pride is when you feel good about yourself because of your accomplishments" You are wrong, and that's perfectly fine.

I'd also like to quote 2 more things of your's

Quote:

And also, like I said, I didn't say that you should get all pissed off if somebody cracks a joke about your heritage.

But...
Quote:

A racist joke should offend you

Think before you speak, you can be very hypocritical otherwise.

I really though I didn't need to emphasize this that much, look at the red. And read more/scroll up cause I was using this example and clearly stated it before.
