So what if people care about their heritage? It's none of your damn business what people find racially offensive or not. Most people spewing these little jokes have a hint of prejudice behind them. I don't care though, they'll get theirs in the long run. Actually, everyone needs to be the better person instead of just one side. If someone feels insulted then that's their right.
It is their right, but it also shows a level of maturity, or lack there of.
Are you saying that people who have the ability to be emotionally hurt are immature? A racist joke should offend you, maybe not enough to make you mad, but there should be atleast a taint of anger that arises when one is cracked. Otherwise, it shows you have no pride in who you are. And about the grandfather and his low scores thing, yes, you should be atleast a little offended; if you have pride in your family, or atleast your grandfather.
Pride... It's just the nice way of calling yourself an elitist faggot. The word pride was used to motivate the scared foot soldier into what would surly mean their death. And btw, the fact that you said that you should be offended by something as stupid as a joke? Like I said before, if you're going to give in to something that's supposed to be lighthearted and isn't even supposed to be insulting? Then you, my friend, are worse than you think that comedian is. Embrace the fact that your different instead of bitching about the fact that someone pointed it out in a comedic matter. EDIT: What would you say if I got offended at your username because my dad is a cop? Whether or not you'd apologize about it, you'd still find it absolutely ridiculous, which is why you have the username. This is partly my point.
Wow... now you're going to call me an elitist faggot? Actually, pride is when you feel good about yourself because of your accomplishments. It's the way your brain works. When you do something that makes life easier or more enjoyable, your brain releases pleasure sensors, and you feel happy. When your accomplishments are attacked, it is only natural to feel depressed or angry because what makes you happy is being criticized. That's what pride is my friend. And also, like I said, I didn't say that you should get all pissed off if somebody cracks a joke about your heritage. I said that it was only natural for you to feel some sort of disadvantage, even if it's only on the subconscious level.
Show me the quote where I said, "Epsilekt is an elitist faggot." I would never call you an elitist faggot, or anyone on this bored. Dictionary.com: Pride: noun, verb a high or inordinate opinion of one's own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc. The link: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=pride&x=0&y=0Heritage: noun something that comes or belongs to one by reason of birth; an inherited lot or portion: a heritage of poverty and suffering; a national heritage of honor, pride, and courage. I just thought I'd show you the true definition of the word because you seem to have gotten your definitions twisted. You see, you've stated that, "pride is when you feel good about yourself because of your accomplishments" You are wrong, and that's perfectly fine. I'd also like to quote 2 more things of your's - Quote:

@ punk emo kid: I use this name for the shock value.
Still doesn't take away from the fact that I think you want to kill my dad who is a cop and because of that comment I am now calling you arrogant.[/example]
Apparently you have no idea that there are different levels of anger. I was hyprocritical in not one place in my post. I'm sorry if I may have used the word pride in place of "self-esteem". However, just because you can quote a dictionary does not help your case. Go back and read my posts and this time replace the word pride with self-esteem. Does that make you feel better? A racist joke should offend you, but at the same time you shouldn't become all pissed off. Just because you're offended doesn't mean you have to go on a killing spree. It is only natural to feel hurt when somebody cracks a joke about you, how hurt you are depends on the person.

Please, don't go blaming me on mistakes that you have made, that's just being cowardly. Now, with the change of words, even though before you so strongly stood behind the word pride until the power of common knowledge shut that initial commitment down, I could agree with you more or put it any better myself. But seriously, don't go blaming me for the fact that you used the completely wrong phrase you used before. You stood so strongly behind the word pride I just had to assume that you, well, stood strongly behind it. And, even though I apologize for saying this in advance, but **** you for calling me out for me making my argument on your screw ups and **** you for trying to hide that you did screw up by quickly changing up the words a bit and throwing the blame on me since the new words you put there happen to make perfect and absolute sense.
Wise up and apologize and admit, or something, that you were wrong or didn't know what you were talking about, or something. But don't go saying that you happened to argue with one point of view for the whole argument and you miraculously had to change it because you found a word that fit. Hell, you even told me, "However, just because you can quote a dictionary does not help your case." And I just won't stand for it that you would have completely changed your point of view on the argument if I didn't quote the dictionary. Hey, it's ok if you didn't know the exact meaning of a word, but to seriously throw it on me? That's just cowardly.

If you are offended by racism, then you are immature. It's as simple as that.

Yeah, I did make a mistake with the word choice, but I never blamed it on you. It seems all you're interested in is attacking me, what's your problem? I was under the impression that pride and self-esteem were pretty much the same thing. So while you thought I was standing behind pride the whole time, I was really talking about self-esteem. I've been holding in rude comments ever since you first started verbally assaulting me, and the one time I say something half-way rude, you explode like an atomic bomb. Calm down, okay?

People should not be offended by jokes in the slightest - I'm black and quite enjoy a good ol' Negro joke. Because they're genuinely quite funny, it's not that I have a lack of respect for my heritage or the people that died purely for the colour of their skin. I just think, "Hey, it's comedy!"
I wish people would drop the whole thing, there's a girl in my class that gets offended if you call her coloured. I mean, god damn!

I've been verbally attacking you because you're absolutely horrible with thinking before speaking... yet again. You are a god damn hypocrite, whether you believe it or not. Want proof?

I'm sorry, when you told me that I had no idea of the different levels of anger, and then proceeded to explain why, I got the slight notion that you were blaming me on your mistake of switching up 2 words that are simply not the same. And then you tell me that quoting the dictionary was not needed, followed by the underlined sentence. Now yes, it makes perfect sense when you switch pride with self-esteem, like I've said before. But you can't just switch one of the words and call me wrong, or unknowing (the red) because everything I said would be wrong, if you originally had the word self-esteem. Just wise up and apologize or just the hell up, or stay arrogant and complain back, no one is trying to win here buddy, it's ok to say you're wrong, I've done it. I admitted that I would have been wrong if you would have originally had self-esteem, and I've blatantly proved you wrong several ocasions with evidence. What more do you want?

Oh yeah, I forgot to apologize in that post. XD I am sorry, I made a mistake with the word choice.
And I was not blaming you for anything except for taking things too far. You've proved that I can make mistakes, like humans do. I went back to read my posts, and I'll admit they sounded a little bit off, but I can tell it's because I'm angry and your constant bickering just fires me up. I am in no way a hypocrite. How does your so called proof constitute such?
Let me sum up what I think. You should be offended atleast a tiny bit when a racist joke, or a joke period is made, if you have any self-esteem. I'm not saying you should be offended enough to where you need to lash out or even experience a drastic mood change, but subconciously, something should be happening. That's what I meant by different levels of anger. And that's what I think.

I know that's what you meant, but you told me about the different levels of anger with a different word, then called me out before I could say, oh yea, you changed it, it's fine.
Do I seriously have to draw this out this much?

I can only contribute to this topic from a personal standpoint, as a white kid with lots of black friends. And we joke about it, sure, the amount of fried chicken and robitussin jokes I make is at a near record-high, but I don't believe that everything is fair game, you know? There are some things that it's just rude to joke about.
Everyone wants to be so "edgy" and "punk" and be all "**** POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, I SAY WHAT I WANT TO SAY" and everything, but that's just AS ridiculous as being overly sensitive.
I never say faggot. I don't use the word gay with a negative connotation. I don't call people niggers, etc. It's just rude. Have some respect, you know?

Good point. o_O Most people make those jokes for shock value anyway. Say what you want...sure,but don't expect people to shut up about it when you decide to talk,or type/post over the internet.

I say what I like, when I want, what I want and I don't give to darn shucks what people think... why? Because everyone's so flipping scared of offending.
I don't care if I call something gay, a fruit or black.. THATS WHAT IT IS.

Actually, "Fruit" is an insulting way of saying homosexual. It's not meant to be a correct term. It's an ignorant slang meant to hurt someone emotionally. If you can't be considerate of someone else's feelings then that's immature. You can voice your opinion without sounding like a prejudice over-opinionated tool and still come out looking strong. People don't want to accomplish that though. But instead, want to be blatantly ignorant and flaunt it around and expect everyone to respect them.
