Don't confuse the word game with sport. To me, a sport involves more physical activity than a video game would ever give you.

The Wii could be a reason. It makes you do alot of physical stuff. Perhaps gaming is turning into a sport.

Well I turned on TSN the other day and saw MLG (Major League Gaming) on it, which I found weird, but apparently gaming professionally is huge now. XD

Because all gamers are fat and lazy? :ermm:

Gaming may or may not quality as a sport depending on your definition, but it's definitely something that can be done in a competetive environment. If people can make a living from professional gaming in Korea, why not in the US? It certainly takes a lot of skill and practise to play at this level...

With consoles like the Wii and games like DDR, it's bringing more physical activity in gaming. So it might qualify. Even though I dont think it really should.

It would take you years to get anywhere near as good as those kids in Korea.

80% of professional gamers come from outside this country. So now we fail at soccer and gaming.

I personally don't consider it a sport simply because usually gaming is not a measure of physical excellence. With systems like Wii becoming available I could perhaps see it changing, but right now I don't consider it a sport. Sure there is professional, competitive gaming but it's still just that and not a sport in my book :) I still love my video games, and no I am not fat - lazy maybe, but not fat.

Same with me, i'm lazy, but i'm not fat. I also agree that gaming isn't a sport, but you can play sports in the games, though you're not technically doing them. With the Wii I can see people getting less lazy and wanting to get up and do something, which I see as great. Perhaps in the future they'll do something like the Virtual Boy, only 1,000 times better, and more interactive. Then gaming might be a sport, or you could say you're playing a sport honestly while just playing a game of football.

Also, NASCAR is a sport, but people just sit and drive. o_O

Let me start off by saying that I am sick of people thinking that. NASCAR requires a lot of physical fitness. Anyways, thats for another topic..

EDIT: Forgot to post my gaming opinion :P

Personally, I think that with a console like the Wii, I can see gaming looking more like a sport, but having 4 kids sitting on chairs playing the XBOX can't be too entertaining to watch
