I can just see it, now. The first fat, lazy bums to compete in the Olympic games! XD

That may very well happen in the future.

I personally don't consider it a sport simply because usually gaming is not a measure of physical excellence.  With systems like Wii becoming available I could perhaps see it changing, but right now I don't consider it a sport.  Sure there is professional, competitive gaming but it's still just that and not a sport in my book :)  I still love my video games, and no I am not fat - lazy maybe, but not fat.

Same with me, i'm lazy, but i'm not fat. I also agree that gaming isn't a sport, but you can play sports in the games, though you're not technically doing them. With the Wii I can see people getting less lazy and wanting to get up and do something, which I see as great. Perhaps in the future they'll do something like the Virtual Boy, only 1,000 times better, and more interactive. Then gaming might be a sport, or you could say you're playing a sport honestly while just playing a game of football.

Also, NASCAR is a sport, but people just sit and drive. o_O

Let me start off by saying that I am sick of people thinking that. NASCAR requires a lot of physical fitness. Anyways, thats for another topic..

Really? I never watch NASCAR anyway, so I rarely think about it, it was the first thought that came to mind when I thought about it though, in regards to this topic. I would think that other types of racing, involving quick thinking, steering, braking, and shifting would take fitness, but I don't really know about NASCAR, my bad for assuming. x_x

On Topic: It'd be really cool to see something like holo decks in Star Trek. :P

Video gaming is very steadily becoming a sport, especially with the introduction of this system for the Wii.

I never really thought about NASCAR racing either but I imagine at the very least they don't want to be so heavy as to have ill effect on their racing much like jockeys in horse racing. For me video games are as sporty as chess or Magic tournaments :) That's not much! Aside from Wii potential as I said earlier anyways.

Because all gamers are fat and lazy? :ermm:

No. Just the really good ones who spend hours in front of their TVs every day. Those would be the only ones qualified for the Olympics.

It was just a joke.

How in the hell can Mario's fat-self jump over all those things?o__o Anyways, physical doesn't just mean moving your body around. What about exercising your brain?
