Many Americans have a very poor idea of Anarchism (which is not Anarchy), which I think is very sad... then again America tries to totally devoid itself of Socialism or Commune Economy. So, Scharfrichter, what is Anarchism? Anarchism was the basis for the First International, and the original form of Marxism. It believes in a de-centralized commune-styled economy, along with total equality for all citizens. Anarchism tends to be pacifistic, but that is not always true. The main forms are: Anarcho-Syndicalism (businesses are owned/run by employees, and direct democracy is practiced on a city level) Anarcho-Communism (Similar, but focuses more on economic change) Anarchism (A middle ground) But Scharfrichter, the USSR was communist! Wrong: the United Soviet SOCIALIST Republic, originally started out as a Libertarian-Socialist state (Socialism is Capitalism without Capitalists) and evolved into an Authoritarian Socialist state. In fact, anarchists were labled as enemies of the Soviet People, and were killed. Has an anarchist state ever existed? Yes, in fact two anarchist "regions" existed in the past. The first was Revolutionary Ukraine, under the Black Army. Within a short time, the Ukrainian Farmer's Commune was brutally exterminated by the Soviets, and paid the price under Stalin. The second was Catalonia (Think Orwell), which existed when Barcelona was cut off from Madrid during the SCW. It too was eventually exterminated by force under Franco. So though anarchist states have existed they have proven weak to attack, though the army of Catalonia had been destoryed in the two years of war previous the founding of the region. China, the USSR, Vietnam, Cuba and the Warsaw states are all examples of Authoritarian Socialist states, not Communist states. Infact, Che, the big hero of Communists, was a Stalinist, and thus is not a hero of Anarchists... many anarchists relate better to Bakunin, the man who translated The Mafifesto into Russian. So Anarchism is Communism? No... and yes... both... Anarchism and Communism are very similar, in that they strive for a stateless, classless society based on direct democracy and equality between all people, of all races, creeds and preferences. The main difference is that Anarchism attempted to reform the economy by reforming the society while Communism attempts to reform the society by reforming the economy. So a Communist state would create social equality by redisributing the wealth while an Anarchist state would create economic equality by ending the Lobist rule over Congress. So, I want to know, who are the Socialists, who are the Capitalists, and what do you think about the coming century socially and economically, and how will this influence politics around the world? |
