Hello fellow sz goers, I'm 16 years old now and have more or less made up my mind to get a tattoo (or two ;P ). My parents don't know this yet and think tattoos are outrageous and I'm a little timid to break it to them and then get an extreme response to my decision. I haven't exactly decided what it will be or where, but I'm aiming for something on my upper arm. Now if any of you can relate to this could you tell your story or perhaps give me some tips.. Any ideas for a tattoo (realistically) please do suggest. |

Upper arm on the shoulder. As long as you dont walk about your house topless they wont see it. Or you could get one on the top of your leg or your back. My friends parents still dont know about his scorpion haha. Ive considered this many a time also, I will be getting one sooner than later

Just do it. Surely then they can't do anything about it? As for tattoos, I quite like those tribal ones. Especially on the arm. |

Yeah I've thought about that, but honestly I'd feel pretty bad if I got it and didn't tell them. |

Make it something that has meaning to you, because once you have it, it's not coming off, and you should also at least tell them that your seriously considering it. |

I have one on my inner forearm, so it's kind of hard to hide. However, I do want to get another one on the side of my stomach (I guess that's how I would describe where it is.). |

I'm not sure where you live, but in most states you do need parent approval under the age of 18. Even though some places are exceptions. And you may not even live in this county. As for your options. You could get it and hide it from them. Which doing that for 2 years will be impossible. My brother did it and got caught about 18 months after he got it. They weren't really all that mad, but just extremely disappointed. The other problem with this is you would have to get it done somewhere under the table. And you do not want some shady place giving you tattoos. For safety reasons and you just want this done right. It is something worth spending good money on as you dont want a ****ty tattoo. I would just tell them and and convince them you have thought about it for a long time. Tell them it is a reasonable tattoo and it will be in a reasonable place. If they wont budge, make a deal with them and ask them if they will let you do it for your 17th birthday or something. And im getting a tattoo saying "Turntablism" across my back sometime soon btw. I am sixteen and my parents would never let me get a tattoo, but after a long talk they said i could. And they wouldnt budge at first. And my suggestion for a tattoo is something original and not something trendy (tribal art or flames) |

Yeah I know my parents and I'll probably deal with them before i get it. I was thinking about getting Nemo me impune lacessit, which basically means no one who attacks me gets away with it. |

I am absolutely advising against getting a tattoo without parent consent.......I will tell you why I got a tattoo when I was 17 (I am now 29) without my parents permission. I don't regret my tattoo but if i had to do it over again I would have thought about the placement a little more and picked a different spot. the other reason is that you don't just go out to anyone and get a tattoo. You should do a lot of research not only on the tattoo you want but the artist putting it on your body. You want to go to a shop that follows health codes etc. Going to a place that is willing to tattoo a minor is NOT a good Idea. It shows a lack of professionalism and irresponsibility. If they are willing to be lax in the parental consent... it is logical to think that they may also be lax on sanitation, and cleanliness, which is a very big deal when blood and open wounds are involved. You could be at risk for contacting several diseases and be at a higher risk for infection if the tools aren't kept clean. I didn't really think of these things when I was 17 but I do now. If a tattoo parlor tattooed my kid without my consent I wouldn't stop until I saw the establishment was out of business..... just thought I would give a view point of someone that has been there and is now a parent. |
