Sorry about your Grandma.

Hopefully your year 11 goes well. It's not a hard year (as far as the learning goes) but all of the talk about college and stuff is really annoying and it gets stressful. =\

That's sad about your grandma, my respects for the family and best wishes.

Well, hm, my mom is loose when it comes to grades, she says as long as I'm trying hard and I don't fail any classes, I'm fine. But my dad, on the other hand, is a bit strict, he just wants me in the 80s, he always gives me a long speech about how grades affect you in life and etc, but I know this already. Last year I had Earth Science as my science course, and I nearly failed that because Earth Science is really hard for me to grasp, idk why.

But most of the time, it's because your parents don't want to see you doing bad in life when it comes. They just care, maybe too much, but they care :)

Gutted. I've just got a £200 ($400) phone for my exam results so I'm happy for the start of the year. ^_^
Sorry to hear about your grandma though.

Sorry for your grandma. :(

That sucks though. My parents aren't that bad... sure they have some rules that are kinda stupid but I just try looking at them from their point of view and see why they made em... and then I can usually live with them.

Parents only make rules like that because they want you to do well in the future.

Meh, my parents had me off the consoles I owned (back then just PS1) on weekdays for a while, so of course I rushed home on Friday to play and then pop over to a neighbour's to play N64 during the week (yeah, we never became friends. I just played his N64 a lot ^_^). But then my dad moved out (divorce) and my mum became lax over time. So now it doesn't matter, and now she trusts me to not let it interfere with my grades. (It does, but I'm a good student so it doesn't matter... I get stuff done on the way to school and in the 20 minutes before the first bell :D).

C or lower is harsh, because there's always those times when you'll just bomb a test or you do bad in something and your grade drops to a C or something, but you can easily bring it up for the end of the quarter or something. But you get a C mid-quarter and you're doing fine, get down to a D and you've gotta actually take notice and work to raise your grade b/c you're in trouble.

And that 2 hrs computer is just crazy. Does that include researching for assignments/typing up assignments, too? Heck, I'd fail if that happened... and my life would be ruined since I intend to write and I use my compy for that XD

Also, your dad isn't doing a good thing for you either, people function best when they're comfortable and they're choosing to do things. Lots of parents don't seem to understand that if they force us into doing things, we're going to do a lot worse. If we see that we have a C or a D or something, we'll take notice and work up to an A/B. But if you go and make us do it, it's something we don't want to do so we won't do nearly as well. And if you let yourself fail a class, then it's something you don't enjoy or care about, and it won't actually matter in the long run since the thinks you enjoy or care about are going to be the things you're shooting for a career in (unless you're looking to make money, then you're going to be an Orthodontist, but that's beside the point) and thus what you'll be majoring in in college and what actually matters.

I think its dumb. Its your choice how hard you try in school, and there's many factors why you could get a C or lower, and over half of them you have no control over.
