Yeah, this week was pretty slow.
Spoiler: click to toggle The Sylar and Matt story isn't all that interesting yet, but it's nice to see it pick up. It's nice to see Sylar still actually being evil while trapped in Matt's mind, not just being a nag. Maybe this will lead to a Sylar/Parkman team-up. It'd be interesting to see Parkman go from the nicest of the good guys to a complete villain. I really want to know what this carnival dude has to do with anything. I don't know what this compass does or why he was looking for Peter (let alone why he put the compass on Peter's arm), but he's obviously a bad dude. That whole story confuses me and hopefully that whole story picks up quick. @Zeus - The woman who 'hears sound' is deaf and she works at the hospital. You see her earlier in the episode and Peter has an encounter with her (hence the look and run-after). I don't really know where it could go, but it looks really cool. I also completely agree with Zeus on the Claire story (even the romance part ). I just hope something interesting happens. To be honest, she was about 50% of the reason that I watched the premiere and it's a little depressing to see her character hardly change since.

Spoiler: click to toggle Cory, I agree that the deaf woman's power looks cool but what it it's effect on others? Can she use her music to trance people? Or what? I don't see much use of a power that only she can see.
Claire was also half the reason I watched the pilot, and I think that her story will probably get a whole lot more interesting after we get through this middle-man crap with Gretchen.

New thoughts about yesterday's episode.
Spoiler: click to toggle I'm not liking Hiro's story at all. He's one of the more unique and likable characters. He's also one of the few that is happy to have a power and tries to use it to help people. If he dies from his illness, I'm going to be very unhappy.
I liked that Tracy seems determined to use her powers for good also. Last season she didn't care about anyone other than herself, so it's nice to see her character grow.
Oh and it looks like Sylar is back!! :o

I used to live in silence, I used to sleep in silence. Now all I hear is a marching of soldiers in my head.

Spoiler: click to toggle I don't think they'll kill him off. I think they're just trying to add a bit more drama. By the looks of the preview for the next episode though, I'm thinking Sylar is back in physical form, but mentally remains Nathan. Also looking forward to Claire's development in the next episode.

Spoiler: click to toggle Yeah, I doubt they'll kill off Hiro. He's such a great character. It would be interesting to see how Sylar would act if he's still got Nathan's mind. This should lead to him seeking out Parkman (or vice versa) and I'm always glad to see when characters' stories meet up. Do you think we'll see more of this Millie chick? She seems to diabolical to be around for just one or two episodes. It's obvious that Noah is going to get back into things, but hopefully it will be for better intentions (and he can't really use the whole 'Protecting the Family' excuse anymore). Maybe Noah and Tracy will team up and do some good for a change. Claire's story is still annoying, but I do like how you called where it was going though, JP. I'm quite excited to see her reaction to that. It is college, the time for sexual exploration...

I miss season 1. I really really do. It's almost on par with Smallville these days, which also used to be great. Spoiler: click to toggle Having Claire have a lesbian kiss is a desperate ploy to draw in viewers... which I guess you guys are falling for Although it was totally obvious they'd do that the episode before last.

Spoiler: click to toggle The actress who plays Gretchen isn't very attractive. (She looks familiar; where have I seen her before?) But I guess it doesn't take much to turn guys on.

Her name is Madeline Zima and she was one of the main characters from the show 'The Nanny', but I don't know if that's what you (or I) remember her from. And, she really isn't all that attractive, and, to be honest, it's really just the fact that it's Hayden.

It's totally bizarre because I didn't recognize her then. Haha.

First time I've watched an episode as it happens this season. Feels much better than being 4 days behind.
Spoiler: click to toggle So I still have no idea what this whole Carnival business is about. Here's my theory: It's a place that they take people with abilities to hide them. Sylar's story is really getting good. I could really care less if Nathan never came back, but I kind of hope they take Sylar in a different direction. He plays such a great villain that I would love to see him as a good guy, but with the help of that creepy carnie dude, I doubt that will happen. Peter and Emma (the deaf chick) seem to have a nice relationship, but she is just so 'put-off-ish' and just needs to say things when she needs to. I mean after almost getting hit by a bus, couldn't she at least be like "Sorry, I'm deaf."? And at the end I guess we saw how her power is more than just pretty lights. Claire's story is pretty boring still, but that black chick being invisible really threw me for a loop. That being said, stuff like that is what makes this show great. Not being able to tell when someone has a power is something I feel is lacking in the show. And, of course, we'll all be waiting to see how Claire reacts to the kiss. I know it's early and we have to see all the stories leading up to later, but there was no Parkman, Ando, Noah or Tracy in this episode. I love it when all the characters meet up in the season, so hopefully that happens relatively quickly this time around.
Future prediction (after watching the preview for next week): The kid that Noah goes to meet the "Healer" is definitely going to shoot Peter, who will be healed and then Peter will take him back to heal Hiro. Overall, it wasn't a bad episode.

Some interesting predictions, Cory! I have a prediction also:
Spoiler: click to toggle Sylar is back but his behavior is reminding me a lot of Nathan. What if Parkman's attempt to make Sylar believe he is Nathan interjected a more moral compass into Sylar while the evilest part of Sylar manifested itself in Parkman? I'm not going to miss Nathan either, he was sort of boring and he didn't always do the right thing either. Mostly he allowed himself to be manipulated by his mother.
The whole Gretchen/Claire story makes me feel a little uncomfortable. I guess Claire is incapable of having a normal friendship?
I still don't understand how Peter's power works because in the last episode he was incredibly fast, but there was a scene of him hugging Claire. Then in the most recent episode, he's still speedy and saves the deaf girl but when he touches her he loses the speed power and gains her power of seeing sounds. He's also shaken hands with the carnival guy but didn't gain his powers. Very confusing.

Spoiler: click to toggle Also, the whole conversation between Peter and Emma...what the hell?! Emma is deaf, how could she understand everything that Peter was saying so clearly? I get it, she might be able to read lips, but she wasn't looking at his lips. So...yeah. I also missed what that power does, all I see is pretty lights. What does it do?
Syla being back is amazing, I don't care if Nathan comes back or not. I really like seeing Sylar as a good guy, and I'm still confused as to whether the carnie guy is good or evil. What did they see that made them go all "=D"?

Spoiler: click to toggle She didn't understand everything Peter said, that's why he had to write some of it down. At the end, she was playing the cello and she kind of flicked the bow at the end of her song and it made a crack in the wall. I don't think the carnie people are good. The girl in Claire's potential sorority is a killer and so was the fast guy with the knives.
