Who cares if he's gay. If he's attracted to men then let him be, his life, his decisions.

He's a fictonal character. :hmm:

Gives religious fundamentalists more reason to lambast Rowling. But it isn't as if the fundamentalists are sane people, anyways.

I was taken aback a bit by the outing, but I could honestly care less. I share the same sentiments with Peter Tatchell, who in the article says:
Tatchell

It's good that children's literature includes the reality of gay people, since we exist in every society [...] But I am disappointed that she did not make Dumbledore's sexuality explicit in the Harry Potter book. Making it obvious would have sent a much more powerful message of understanding and acceptance."

There was no point to bringing him out to be homosexual.

Now that I think about it's kinda obvious. Although if a few days ago I'd had to choose a gay Harry Potter character I'd have thought it be Professor McGonagal. She just seems really lesbian-y.

I would have to agree with Classic_Fan that writing Dumbledore's sexual orientation as a more prominent aspect to the series would have served little purpose. Too often authors fall into giving commentary on social issues [or other issues]. I think that it is interesting that Dumbledore is homosexual, though personally that doesn't adjust my perspective on his character whatsoever. I think in envisioning him thus, Rowling instead displays to her readers that it isn't something that is "in our faces" and doesn't have to be a relevant reason for our decisions as people often use it as.

I think that this is causing quite a stir considering it's such a tiny thing. :ermm:

I honestly do not see the reason as to why she announced that. Like yeah, it's interesting to know. But does it honestly mean anything to the series? No. There was no point in telling us that; all it can do is stir some controversial debate.

This will prompt the creation of some of the worst fanfiction ever written. Since the series is over now, it won't have much of an effect besides that. Oh, and the few radical Christians who hate Harry Potter can get more people on their side.

XDDDDD. It's probably bad that I think this is so funny and random but I love JK Rowling so much more. I can see Dumbledore being homosexual, with all the things with the other wizard. But it's so random. I always considered Dumbledore to be some grandpa, he doesn't have sexual preferences.

This will make the sixth movie so awkward.XD

Yeah, but Dumbledore, to me, just doesn't seem like the kind of person, honestly. He's a Master Wizard, Headmaster of Hogwarts, basically the strongest person in all of Harry Potter...

And because he's the headmaster and the strongest wizard he can't be Gay? That's arrogant x_x

Seriously, it means nothing to me. The story is still the same, and that didn't change anything actually . . .

no, it just means that he's sort of the emotionless and calm and collected person. I didn't know he had such a weird childhood and whatever.

Gosh, no wonder he spend so much time with Harry in his office. :o  ^o) :r ;) :) XD :X :(

I forgot gay people can't talk to other guys without it being sexually oriented situation?

Honestly, it really doesn't matter if he was gay. I'm sure none of you guys thought he was much of a ladies man anyway.
