This will prompt the creation of some of the worst fanfiction ever written. Since the series is over now, it won't have much of an effect besides that. Oh, and the few radical Christians who hate Harry Potter can get more people on their side.

Hmmm, worst fanfiction ever written...sounds like someone has been reading some FF! :P

Honestly though, I don't see the point. It's kind of like when someone tells you a really long story, and then gets to the end, and you're like, "and?", waiting for the point, but there is none. It's just like a joke with no punchline, and no relevance at all to the series. There's no basis for it in the books...

Exactly, we really don't need to know or care about the sexual orientation of any of the characters. I read the Harry Potter series because I enjoyed reading about the fantastical magic, the friendships Harry shared with Hermione and Ron and the battles with Voldemort.

J.K. Rowling has spent years thinking about the characters and I guess she's developed each and every character in her mind. If that reporter hadn't asked about Dumbledore's romantic life, she'd probably wouldn't have revealed that aspect of Dumbledore's character.

I just saw Dumbledore as a type of guy that was above relationships, hetero and homo, kind of like a grandfatherly guy with no sexual attraction. That's how he'll stay in my head

Quite honestly, it is irrelevant information. It has nothing to do with the story and does nothing to change it. Honestly I could care less if he were gay or straight it doesn't change the kind of person he is/was even though he is only fictional. For those who can't get over the fact that Dumbledore is gay, grow up. People have the right to do what they want, it's not up to us to judge them or choose for them.

Who cares if he's gay. If he's attracted to men then let him be, his life, his decisions.

He's a fictonal character. :hmm:

:arr:

And?

He doesn't really exist...so he couldn't make his own decisions, nor does he even have a life.

In the fictional world that is. He's gay, so what. After all, he's fictional, right?

Yes, I know what you meant by that, but the way you said "his life, his decisions" doesn't really apply to a fictional character. ;)

In his role, yes, i believe it can apply. I just made it sound as if it were directed to an actual non-fictional individual. But i wouldn't make a big fuss over a fictional character being gay.

I hope this is the right section for this, but
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7053982.stm

It seems logical, he never had an interest in relationships.

Just imagine how many more books will be burned because of this... :P

Its alright, I kind of figured it.

Who fricken cares? It's not like it has any affect on the outcome of the story. It's not like Rowling ever had a detailed sex scene between Dumbledore and some other dude.
Plus, he dies anyway.

I couldn't agree more. Who gives a damn, its a BOOK! It makes no sense for it to matter. He isn't real, he is a fictional character. In a simplistic way it's ink on paper saying someone is homosexual. Matters since when?

Lol, agreed.

I do however find it really funny how people take Harry Potter so seriously. This event has probably changed lives, and that is not an exaggeration. XD

@ Postulate: My thoughts exactly.

Like others have said, he's just a character. Therefore, his character can only be outlined in the Harry Potter books. Dumbledore's sexuality is never described in the Harry Potter books. There's no point at all for Rowling to say he's gay.
