Yeah, but Dumbledore, to me, just doesn't seem like the kind of person, honestly. He's a Master Wizard, Headmaster of Hogwarts, basically the strongest person in all of Harry Potter...

And because he's the headmaster and the strongest wizard he can't be Gay? That's arrogant x_x

Seriously, it means nothing to me. The story is still the same, and that didn't change anything actually . . .

no, it just means that he's sort of the emotionless and calm and collected person. I didn't know he had such a weird childhood and whatever.

Gosh, no wonder he spend so much time with Harry in his office. :o  ^o) :r ;) :)XD :X :(

I forgot gay people can't talk to other guys without it being sexually oriented situation?

Gosh, I was just making a joke. Can't you homosupportive, obsessive people ever chill out? :X :arr: XD  :S

besides even before she mentioned it I thought it was a bit strange. how dumbledore always spent all this private time with harry and confided him in all this stuff and how he said he was so fond of him and stuff. and that was BEFORE she mentioned it. so hah! that's you outsmarted, eh?

No idea if this has been said before, or what the thread is about even, but I think it's the Dumblydorr being gay thing. On that note, has anyone wondered why Rowling kept on hammering on the "Special relationship" between him and Harry? Adult only-rating in America, here we come.

homosexuality=/=pedophilia, even when you're saying it as a joke. a joke that has been done to death already within the last 24 hours, and is no longer funny (if it ever was)

in other news, ( . Y . )

This is so ******* stupid. I cant believe Rowling did this to the series.

Why is it stupid? How is the character
Dumbledore any different now that his
sexual orientation is out in the open?

It's not a necessity. It's like randomly saying that Voldemort had blue eyes before he became a snake person, or that Harry's broom was made by enslaved elves. Why does it matter now? It's just a taboo on something that does not matter.

It's not as if she just thought up "hey, my sales are down, I need a hook". It was something she had stored away for awhile, and a fan asked, and she explained.

Was she supposed to say, "oh, it's not important don't worry"?

I don't know. It's just such a stupid thing, the entire collectivity of it. It may have been unavoidable, but it's stupid.

I still fail to see how it's stupid, at all really.

Someone asked her, and she told them the truth. Dumbledore is gay. Is there something stupid about someone being gay, is that so unheard of that a story line like that couldn't possibly fit in?

What I think is stupid is that we all assume people in books, movies, etc are straight.

You have nothing to back up it's "stupidity". I could say
you're stupid, but if I had nothing to back it up it would
be pretty... well... stupid.

Who cares if he's gay. If he's attracted to men then let him be, his life, his decisions.

XD

I don't care, but it's hilarious hearing the arguments over this.

I wonder if they'll play on this in the next two movies. Perhaps they'll turn Dumbledore into a bit of a Priscilla: Queen of the Desert reincarnate or something. It'll certainly make the films worth watching for me.

First off, Dumbledore was never described as a 'Priscilla: Queen of the Desert' type of character, so why in the world should his character be portrayed as one. Not everyone that's gay is camp.

I'm personally of the opinion that JK Rowling is trying to keep the world that she has created alive, and as such releases tidbits of information about the characters background every once in a while. However, this does not change my personaly perception of Dumbledore, because I do not see him as homosexual, and when I read a book, I want to imagine the chracters for myself, and fill in the blanks myself.
