It's not a necessity. It's like randomly saying that Voldemort had blue eyes before he became a snake person, or that Harry's broom was made by enslaved elves. Why does it matter now? It's just a taboo on something that does not matter.

yeah, it's like saying that neville longbottom might have a slight risk of developing some sort of disorder when he's middle aged.

no one cares, dumbledore's past was tragic, and he's 1150549093840329 years old now.

btw, i think dumbledore made a heterosexual comment once in the first book or something. isn't that weird? :arr: B) :'( ^_^ :@

I'd encourage people to read this great article on the issue. I personally felt that writer got to the heart of matters with this over exaggerated situation.

Dumbledore is not gay, he is no longer property of JK Rowling until she writes another book about him. And seen as her books show little evidence - he will remain whatever sexuality you first thought him to be.

I am shocked that Dumbledore is gay.

But honestly, it is a book. Get over it.

Sexuality had nothing to do with this hept-logy. It has nothing to do with being gay (He could of been a cross dresser in his free time for all I can) but.. Meh. It doesn't matter.

i think it was irrellevant. JK doesn't have to specify the sexuality and stuff of everyone in her books. least of all dumbledore. dumbledore is supposed to be some experienced omniscient omnipresent whatever guide sort of person.

So.. who's property is he?

She's the author. If she wants to say that Ron went on to win Ms. Universe, she has the right to do so, and in the HP world, it's very much fact.

Yea seriously lol, that "not property of JK" comment must have been a joke?

I looked at this thread thinking i'd see some lighthearted comments, but some people are taking this really seriously.

You all know he isn't real, right?

And someone posted about it should've been brought out in the books to teach kids about acceptance? I think that would've been a bad idea (even though i'm not a HP fan), does a fictional gay person need to be paraded around in the story for children to accept them?

OMG, ive just gone serious too >_> the ironing is delicious.

If JK Rowling really meant to teach children about tolerance, then she would've made Dumbledore's sexuality more obvious. She just wanted to get a kick out of this.
