I always shut my monitor off, and usually log off. But for the time being I'm not because I don't know the password.
I would if that's the last resort, it says I can lose certain information. Aeroice - Do I have to put my account username somewhere in there? Because it says user cannot be found...? Thanks. |

It was talking about another method. If you read on, they give this as an alternative to that method. But the method they give didn't work, so I guess if you find out what the first method was, use it as a last resort then. ---------------------- That site has a bunch of possible solutions: This and This Again, not sure if they work or are reliable, but you can try if you want. |

Thank you, I'll take downloading password apps in the future. Not exactly what I want to do. I rather stay on the path of what Aeroice suggested. Using the command prompt. Can anyone help me with that? |

To do what Aeroice said you need to go to your command prompt. 1. Go to start 2. Go to run 3. type in "cmd" 4. in the command prompt type in "net user USERNAME Password" Where it says username type in the username of your account. For password type in your new password that you want. |

When the computer starts, you can always say Safe Mode with Command prompt. Then type in the command in the black box exactly as follows
If you can't do that, then try and get in safe mode and use the administrator account (it's hidden in normal modes, I believe) to do it yourself. For example, let's say we are under these circumstances: - Username: PigLatin - Password: whyistheskyblue - You want to make the password 'whenpigsfly' Start Menu -> Run -> Type in cmd -> Press OK Type in
Even if it's an administrator. |

Your "username" is the one that you are locked out of... and if you can't find it, then it doesn't exist. Sadly. If you're still having trouble, type in
That way, your CMD will be run as the administrator.. which has permission to do anything, I believe. If that still doesn't work, you can always try Ophcrack. |

Whatever the name of your computer is... to find out, I believe you right click on Computer then go to properties, and it'll be somewhere in there... |

I'll if it works, but does that mean my "account right now" will be deleted or changed? EDIT: The dreaded time has come. My computer logged me off, and now I'm on my back up administration account. I really need to know how to retrieve my password for my old account. EDIT: AERIOCE, thank you so much! You help me find my password, and it worked the first code you gave me "Net User Username Password" I forgot that I changed my username before so I had to use the original username. Now I changed the password and it worked! Thank you so much everyone! |
