Any Linux users?

I was wondering if there are any Linux users here? You don't have to be a full-time user, you might have XP/Vista/Mac installed too. I've used Ubuntu and PCLinuxOS. I didn't like GNOME, so now I'm using KDE in Mandriva 2008 and I love it! Wine has progressed and so a lot of games work in Linux now. I love The GIMP (free Photoshop alternative) and Amarok (free music player). I discovered that k3b is a far superior CD-burning software than Nero.

So if you haven't tried Linux, go get Ubuntu or Mandriva and grab a free distribution. For a full list of the top distros check Distrowatch.

Soon to be dualbooting Windows XP and Gentoo. Finally picked up a new hard drive so I have the space now instead of having to use my old clunker of a desktop for my linux box.

I want to run Linux, and I have the setup Cd ready and everything, but I'm worried that if my dad found out that I was running it, he'd kill me.

I'm not a Linux user.

Why do people like you post in threads that don't apply to yourself in any way?

I run Xubuntu. I've used Ubuntu since July but seeing as they've decided to bundle in Compiz and other crap by default, and I get exactly the same functionality from Xfce with half the RAM usage, I decided to switch.

I think it had something to do with the OP and his Signature. Anyway going strong with ubuntu. :) even tried to make it look like a mac and it looked strikingly similar but i wasnt happy with it ill just stick to the original and find something later

Thank you for that insightful post, it defintely benefited this topic greatly.

lol ^

I've been dual-booting Vista and Ubuntu ever since I got the new PC. Ubuntu is great, I'd rather do everything relating to browsing the net with it, but I still need Vista for everything else pretty much, so I'm pretty content with dual-booting.
