Okay, well I use a school iPod for music and school-related things. Recently, it just stopped working. It ran out of charge and I can no longer charge it. I plug it in, the orange light comes on and stays on for like five minutes. Then it turns off, flashes green once, flashes orange a couple more times, then goes back to solid orange. After like 2 cycles of this, the light turns off and nothing happens. Also, my iPod won't show up in Explorer (using windows) or iTunes. Anyone know of a possible fix? I read another topic about the same problem, the only answer was to get it serviced. I really don't want to pay for that, so I'm wondering if there's a possible fix, please help.

Edit: Forgot to mention, it's a shuffle

Have you tried phoning Apple or looking through their help files? Has anyone noticed the rise in support topics for iPods?

It could be a problem with your USB (or whatever it's called) cable, where it isn't functioning correctly. I would suggest trying a different one, and if that does work, get one of those $30 shuffles that sell nowadays. ;)

Yea there is a lot of Ipod help topics. First try wiping it at a wall, then phone Apple, and then repeat step one.

Did it. No luck.

If the iPod is still under warrenty, I think I'll just pay shipping and get it serviced, any other suggestions before then?

Why would I do that? It's a shuffle and it broke like 4 months after being opened. I think I'll continue to not buy anything Apple.
