Disk Drive Problem

So on my VAIO laptop, when ever I insert a CD into the disk drive, no message appears or anything to proceed to open the files that are on the disk. I go to Windows Explorer and click the icon that opens up the files that are on the CD. Nothing is there. I'm really annoyed because I recently purchased Age of Empires III, a pc game, and I can't play it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Is this any CD?
Or just the AOE III CD?

This includes several other CDs; Microsoft Office, AOE III, and music CD's. I'm stumped. :(

the drive is probably broken, so it won't read discs, get a new one, they're not really expensive, like, $20 for a dvd burner drive isn't it?

I rarely have access to transportation and I'm saving my money at the moment. x_x

Does it even start up?
If the drive is starting up, I'm guessing its reader is broken.

I can tell it works because whenever I insert the CD and close the disk, it starts to turn rapidly, and my computer looks like it is loading something. But then nothing happens. :/

you need to get the drive repaired, or buy a new one then, my laptop was the exact same way. At first it wouldn't work, but it would only load the CD if I manually spun it then closed the drive really fast, but that started to work less and less. Now my CD drive is a CD holder lol. Maybe you could try cleaning the laser lens? it could work

How old is the laptop? If its still in warranty you can ship it back to Sony and they will fix it free of charge.

Well to be able to play AoE 3 you need a DVD drive. That might be why you can't read it. Because it might just be a CD drive and maybe the CD drive is broken.

I have played AoE on my laptop before. It suddenly stopped working like a month or two ago. x_x

open the drive, ther should be something that can move across the disc from the middle to edge, that's what actually reads the disc, there's always little warnings saying not to touch them because it could screw everything up
