The title practically says all.

Have you ever gotten a virus? How did you get it? Did you get rid of it?

I actually have two trojans on my computer right now that I am in the process of getting rid of. This is the first time I've received a real virus. I got it from a file attachment for a Chobits episode I found on Google. Talk about your virus experiences!

I've never gotten a virus per se. I think I may have had some adware on me once, but usually I vaccinate well.

I find it hard to get a virus.

I don't download songs or illicit material, I don't hack or steal things. I don't visit bad websites or the like. And I use protection. AVG every now and then to search, firewalled router, but I never catch anything with AVG anyway, I don't really need it.

Quite a few in the past, to be honest - one that actually caused enough damage to reset my computer and it's files completely. We have now downloaded a better virus protecting program since then and it has been working quite well, so I don't see it being an issue in the future. ^_^

Keyloggers, yes. Still don't know how I got it but found out the hard way when someone stole my account from an old online game I used to play.
Trojans, no

The combination of AVG Antivirus and AdAware along with a bit of common sense keeps me safe on the internet.

That is about it for me, and I also got a keylogger once.

For the last year or so of running Windows I didn't have any security software running in the background and I didn't notice anything different (i.e. as far as I could tell, there weren't any viruses attempting to wreck my install). All I did was keep Windows up to date to make sure any known exploits were filled, used Firefox with NoScript to block potentially harmful javascript, flash, etc, and configured my router's firewall to block all incoming connections except for my Xbox 360s wireless adapter. As someone said, common sense is the best defense (which is why I now use Linux :P but that's not for this topic :r).

Viruses suck ass! Especially ones over MSN, my friend has one and I keep getting a message saying 'Is it ok if I put these pics up of you?' and then a file, lol. They can wreck pc if you accept. Whole pc had to be re-booted after the fiasco this summer where someone hacked us, then installed loads of viruses!
