I think that it depends how different the religions are, and how significant the individual issues are. I could see how Christians of different denominations could have a successful marriage, but at least for me personally, it wouldn't work if we had completely different beliefs and philosophies on life and morality. |

If somebody is allowing their religion to interfere with their relationships on this earth, then the religion itself is not to blame. It's that person's inability to realize when they are going overboard. Sure, it's fine to be religious and be true to your lord etc. etc., but there is a point when it just becomes unhealthy. Ehhh, this world would be so much better without all this religion bs, but it will never change. Never.... Humanity is too dependent on this ummm... stuff. *hides* |

So you are saying that marriage/love is more important than religion?
Many people are called hypocrites. I would rather obey the Lord's commandments and be called "overboard" than not obey them and be disobedient and give others the opportunity to call me a hypocrite. |

I love the Lord more than ANYTHING. I can't wait till its my time to join him in Heaven. That way I can be with God and Jesus, and my ancestors, and my Papa. Who sadly died of strokes 2 years ago. And to join my puppy Sarah. And my 2 kitties Tabby and Riley. |

You don't have to be religious to determine how important love is compared to religion therefore bypassing the often ambiguous work of fiction also known as the Bible. I think I'd rather follow my moral compass than a composite of works selected by a committee in an attempt to unite a varied religion and to adapt from other religions. I find highly ironic that the Bible was put together by a secular council who did it not for religious reasons but for political reasons. |

To me religion is my belief-system -- so if someone has completely different beliefs, how could it possibly work? I wouldn't date a Christian who believes the bible literally or who doesn't interpret the bible in the same way, because we would view the world too differently. For example, if they are against gay partnerships when I am strongly for them, which is part of my religious belief system, I would not date them. I wouldn't necessarily mind if the person had a different God, as long as they were accepting of mine. |

Actually, I don't believe it is fiction. And I believe everything that the Bible says. |

If two people's beliefs are completely different, and they are unable to put their love before their beliefs then it simply wouldn't work, like you've said. But accepting others' differences in terms of beliefs can go a long way. For example, if a Christian girl could accept the fact that I am not religious, and probably will never be, then I would be perfectly fine with her being as religious as she wants. It has nothing to do with how much you value your religion or how much you value your love. I has to do with coming to the realization that people are different, have different beliefs, and it is possible to love somebody for who they are; beyond what they believe spiritually. Basically I'm agreeing with you although it probably doesn't seem that way, because I'm looking at the situation from the opposite end. |

I'm against it personally because I would not like to marry an unthinking sheep (I.E. a religious person). However, if they're not to extreme about it and don't try to choke me with it, it's not out of the question. Forcing yourself to marry another atheist really lowers the number of prospective mates.

I've find this quote to be kind of depressing and in a way it makes God sound selfish, which I know he's not. But I agree with what Katie said. As long as we can respect others opinions and what not, i'd be okay with it I suppose. |
