There's many other sites saying the same thing. If this is true it'll be the best thing ever.

I wouldn't be that surprised. I hope so, too. It would be a good tribute to him.

Let's just hope the "Madden Curse" doesn't affect him when he's doing the yard work. :P

Well, it's official now. You figure all this time Favre could've been on the cover (especially the 90's) and they pick his retirement to get him on the cover. I love it.

I honestly do not like this decision. What I do not get is this:

The man on the cover is going to be Brett Favre, but he isn't going to be in the game? That would be stupid. Plus if they have him in the game it would be even more stupid because he isn't in the league in 2009. Well either way I think it is stupid and I think they need to be promoting the young players to get the NFL back to loving the new comers, not the old veterans that will be retiring soon or in this case, already retired.

lolol.

Brett Favre will be playable in the game as a free agent and that's not stupid because they're commemorating his career and also commemorating the Madden franchise.

"Madden NFL Football and Brett Favre are sports icons who have set the standard and revolutionalized their positions within their respective genres," said Madden NFL Executive Producer Dale Jackson. "Brett Favre is a perfect fit for the Madden NFL 09 cover, as he epitomizes everything the franchise has stood for the past 20 years - longevity, excellence, and a love of football."

John Madden is retired. Does that mean he shouldn't be the cover name? :r
