I recently had a discussion with my Chem teacher about what it actually means to live. Don't remind me how odd our conversations are. It began when I simply asked,"What makes a molecule be able to live, being so small?" Pointless question, really. But in the end, it made me wonder what it actually means to live. Sure, the generic answer would be "to move voluntarily." But is it deeper than that? Before posting, I'd suggest that you think about that question that is really asked. I'm interested to see your answers.

Something to enjoy and have fun in, not something to be dictated by pen and paper and how well you can remember certain things which you are then examined on. Something to be thankful for (depending on your religion maybe). |

It depends really. There's the technical biological answer (a la Lugiatm) which defines the basic requirements to determine if something possesses life, then there's the idea of what living (as a human) is - e.g. is life defined by what we make of it? I suppose it depends which aspect of existence you want to examine. One applies to all life, the other is limited to humans (and possibly other sentients, if you want to stretch it :P). |

I think therefore I am. Our conscience, our ability to reason, our use of logic. All of these things that seperate us from other animals give us "life" so to speak. From a spiritual standpoint I think life is provided to us through Christ after we hold him as our Savior. |
