5 weeks since my board last went offline, it's off again. It is too often now. Just sell people their files.

Server happenings is often beyond the developers control and they can only work with the data center to resolve such issues, so you can't always point your finger at Brandon when downtime happens.

It's every few weeks! It is five weeks since the last one and about nine since the one before. Who do you blame? It's not my fault! I have asked to buy my forum file so we can move to a more reliable host.

At least two of the recent outages for S11 were hardware related.
Not something I can fault them for.
It's not like they're like "Yo server, could you just like die for us? Yeah, that'd be great."

It's certainly not as bad as the sporadic outages we had in late 2014 when S11 was being attacked.

It's frustrating yeah, but it's not the end of the world.
Life happens, they'll get the servers up when they can.

Actually that is not a good excuse since zeta didn't give us the warning that free service = often poor service.

Go outside. Get some fresh air. I use to do nothing but stare at the computer screen 24/7, and then I started living in the real world, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but just like crap happens on the internet that is beyond the control of others, the same goes for the rest of life.

As for them not providing the database to be transferred to a different forum software, I cannot speak for Brandon, but I'm sure he has valid reasons in doing so. Maybe him or another staff member will chime into this topic and give you those valid reasons.

Very frustrating, namely as it always feels like it's Z11, where my board is based.

I wouldn't call it "free", perse, for one we pay for Premium but even if you don't, ZB provides you with the forum and in turn they place ads marketed at our communities and make money there. There's a reason if you bypass the ads and remove them from your forum, your board will get deleted. Also, I'm aware Premium isn't for a better or more stable experience, just saying.

As for letting us have the database, I also wish they would. Not saying I would move my community elsewhere but the option completely denied without questions I don't feel is particularly consumer friendly, when so many of the other softwares do allow it.

Hopefully the problem will be remedied soon, can't be helped I guess, and advanced thanks to Brian and Brandon for working on getting things running smoothly again.

Brandon and Brian are working behind the scenes to have this issue resolved as soon as possible. We understand that it is a considerable inconvenience to those forums that are affected and appreciate your patience while we work to have the servers back online.

As Helena mentioned earlier, any new information that we have regarding the outage will be posted here.

I've also been hit by the down time twice now, but understand entirely. I work with computers with my job and deal with uncontrollable malfunctions on the regular. It's a fault in the technology, not in one person in particular (Unless we're now blaming people for buying a product they'd have no way of knowing would have a failure X years after purchase).

I would prefer them to take their time and get it resolved correctly rather than rush it with an increased chance of errors happening again. I've been an avid Zeta user for what feels like a decade now and won't stop because three days out of 2016 (an already terrible year) had server issues.

A few things...

1. One thing this thread proves is people take for granted all the time their board is up without a hitch and even when it's down that they never suffer loss of data when it wasn't always something you could count on when there was a server down.

2. It also proves people have way too much invested into their communities when they should be at most a hobby to get this riled up over a short downtime. I have seen far worse hit this network with a data loss as a "bonus" during my time here and I didn't do any of this nonsense as I simply patiently waited for updates and for the board to be back up as that is what a member of this service is supposed to be doing to make sure that the staff team's time is spent on those who the staff here can help while those involved with the servers can keep working on the problem instead of fielding questions to the community which they might not even be able to give actual answers to other then I don't know just yet.

3. One thing services like Zathyus does is they let you get away with not needing to do any of the less then glamours work which is skinning, coding, and server work(copying and pasting codes and skins isn't being counted as actual skinning and coding work BTW). The three things that have stressed out many a forum owner who have to deal with that but here someone else for the most part deals with all of that so you don't have to which I say is a great perk that I think isn't appreciated enough.

I think you find if you had to do all of that work which you would if you were self hosted then you see just how not simple the work that Brandon and Co. are doing. I might not have to do any of it personally but I know many who have and I seen the stress and worry that comes upon you when you are doing that work to know enough that I greatly appreciate all who took the time to make sure the codes are always working, the skins are well made and stunning and the servers are for the most part always up and running smoothly.

In any case, thanks to all involved for the work they done for the service including fixing a down server along with all those who make our codes and skins and hope all is fixed up soon with no data loss and if anyone can spare the time to give us updates when and if they are available is appreciated but not necessary if the time isn't there to do it.

BZ's right; the people here who keep track of the servers, hardware and everything do a tremendous job and without their hard work, due diligence and patience, we wouldn't have these boards.

People are allowed to voice their displeasure, are they not? Don't be so condescending.
