I could really use some kind of time frame based update here. I've got restless members who're questioning when the forums are going to be back up. Every update posted so far has been incredibly vague. The updates just repeat exactly what we already know.

How much longer will it take until the forums are back up? Should I start seeking alternative measures for the downtime? These are questions that as users, we need to have the answers to. The folks here talking about it being free clearly have no idea about the revenue Zetaboard's pull in from advertisements and more.

We may not pay, but we do bring in money, with our usage and members usage - especially forums that have hundreds of people on. So asking for a timeframe or getting upset isn't unfair. I have a lot of respect for the forum and what it provides, but I'm under no illusion that it's not mutually beneficial.

With that said, please, can we have a timeframe?

You could redirect those members here so they keep updated too but honestly asking for a time frame, while it is logical you want one, is something they're not able to give you (yet).

The reason the updates are vague is likely due to not having any specific info they can give that they can ensure will be accurate. If they give you specific time frames and then miss them will only drive people to become more upset. I am sure that any info they give will be as specific as they can possible be without taking the risk in giving you incorrect info.

I wonder if I could be cheeky and say that those who pay premium get a few extra days as it's been down ;)

*Hint Hint*

or a full month because they love us. *Bigger Hint*

But on a serious note -- not often ZB goes down, and in 5 years, it's the longest it's been down for my board. Hope it gets settled soon, glad to see ZB keeping us updated though! Look forward to the resurrection :')

I just wanted to say thank you for keeping us posted on progress. When I click on my board link, the new message that it is being restored has a link to the support thread. Keep up the good work, guys.

I'm a new member and am just setting up a new forum and initially thought I had done something wrong and crashed my forum yesterday! Hahaha! So glad it wasn't me messing up! Phew!

Thank you for your hard work to restore everything and for the ongoing updates, they are greatly appreciated and it makes me glad I've chosen ZetaBoards for my new forum. I now know that when 'you know what' happens ;-), it will be resolved professionally and as quickly as possible.

Much Appreciation! Great Job!

This is correct. At the moment we know the progress is still going and it is slow. It is important to understand just how much data is being uploaded. Based solely on that, my own estimate (not official) is that we likely won't have a concrete timeframe to give you until very late this evening.

Please understand however that the servers will not be back up within the next few hours. This is a very slow process.

We will continue to give you updates as we receive them, but I would strongly advise planning on the downtime to last through today. While we certainly hope to have the matter resolved sooner, that is unlikely to happen.

Thanks for everything guys. This is probably as frustrating for you guys as it is for the rest of the Zathyus community. Hope you all get to enjoy your Thanksgiving week.

I just want to say i appreciate all the efforts put forth by all the people who run this place and how ever long it takes it takes. Stuff happens in life and there is certainly a lot worse things that could happen to any of us. Maybe when things get back going the people who are complaining could appreciate what they have when they have it instead of lashing out when things don't work for the minimum times that it does happen.
I am sure the people working on this are stressed out to begin with and the last thing they need is more stress. I say take your time and do it right and don't rush it or half ass it on anyone's account.

Hasn't there been enough condescending comments in this thread? Seriously?

A few things...

1. One thing this thread proves is people take for granted all the time their board is up without a hitch and even when it's down that they never suffer loss of data when it wasn't always something you could count on when there was a server down.

2. It also proves people have way too much invested into their communities when they should be at most a hobby to get this riled up over a short downtime. I have seen far worse hit this network with a data loss as a "bonus" during my time here and I didn't do any of this nonsense as I simply patiently waited for updates and for the board to be back up as that is what a member of this service is supposed to be doing to make sure that the staff team's time is spent on those who the staff here can help while those involved with the servers can keep working on the problem instead of fielding questions to the community which they might not even be able to give actual answers to other then I don't know just yet.

3. One thing services like Zathyus does is they let you get away with not needing to do any of the less then glamours work which is skinning, coding, and server work(copying and pasting codes and skins isn't being counted as actual skinning and coding work BTW). The three things that have stressed out many a forum owner who have to deal with that but here someone else for the most part deals with all of that so you don't have to which I say is a great perk that I think isn't appreciated enough.

I think you find if you had to do all of that work which you would if you were self hosted then you see just how not simple the work that Brandon and Co. are doing. I might not have to do any of it personally but I know many who have and I seen the stress and worry that comes upon you when you are doing that work to know enough that I greatly appreciate all who took the time to make sure the codes are always working, the skins are well made and stunning and the servers are for the most part always up and running smoothly.

In any case, thanks to all involved for the work they done for the service including fixing a down server along with all those who make our codes and skins and hope all is fixed up soon with no data loss and if anyone can spare the time to give us updates when and if they are available is appreciated but not necessary if the time isn't there to do it.
I couldn't agree more. I moved from Proboards to here 3 years ago and have not regretted the decision at all. No forum host is without their issues but I know that my board in the 3 years I've been here had less problems than the 5 years I had my proboards.

I am sure that Brandon and the other admins are doing their best to see that your boards are up and running as soon as possible.
