Keep in mind that w11 has the most boards of the ones brought online. It is entirely possible that Brandon might have w11 back up before that estimate but given all the moving parts in this, it does take time. We'll continue to keep you posted if anything changes. |

I believe Brandon needs to correct his announcement because he said that the w11 servers will be back online at 18:00 "ETA". I think he means 18:00 EAT and in which case it should have been done an hour ago but it hasn't been fixed yet. The timing should be rectified and presented with a new time. |

Yes, all times are presented in Eastern Time (US / New York) - what he meant by "ETA" is just that it's an estimated time. |

So what is that 18:00 in? GMT? ETA? NZDT? Okay! Edited by Reece MobLife, Nov 23 2016, 12:25 PM.

What is the technical reason that server 11 will be 6pm but all the others in the morning? That's 3 full days for UK/European based communities

As Stephen mentioned, server 11 is the largest of the affected servers. |

Can we volunteer to move servers after this process? Make it not the largest of servers anymore? And if not, why not? Because for as long as I've been a member, and my board has been around since 2008, server 11 seems to be the most unpredictable. It had a fair amount of issues in the last update and I'm not sure if that was ever resolved, we were just put back to W11 unlike the other boards, to fix whatever the problems were. Not blaming anyone for these problems and I'm thankful we have a rough idea now of when it'll be online, just venting a little because 3 full days of downtime isn't good for our communities or new traffic who stumbled upon the place. And if not being on server 11 in future would minimise future problems I'd like to explore moving to a different, historically less problematic server. Here's some service food for thought anyway so my post isn't just a moan: not being able to communicate with our members also seems like it could be improved in distressed times and maybe something could be put in place so that the admin control panels can still be accessed even if a server is down, so we could bulk email our members updates or something. Or we could set our own "down" message. I know there's a message up there directing to the support topic but I feel a lot of members and communities would feel more assured with a personal message from the board admin. My board in particular has lots of events going on with time limits and my community would feel more assured that things will be shuffled around when the board is back and not to worry about that. Might seem like a small thing but can make all the difference, IMO. Edited by spiiike, Nov 23 2016, 12:49 PM.

We're still working on optimizing the restoration process for s11. It has taken longer than the others due to the amount of data involved. We'll keep you posted if we're able to improve on the the ETA for it's restoration. |
