1. Do you, or do you not play video games? What is the motivation? Yes i do play video games quie often, for the challenge, for online friends, accomplishment 2. Do you play violent video games? Can you name a few? Yes: Wolfenstein, Halo, World of warcraft 3. Are you aware of the ESRB rating of the games? Do you honour it? I am aware of it and it currently doesnt pertain to me seeing as i am old enough to purchase any game out currently 4. If you play violent video games, what motivates you to play them? Can you describe your feelings or emotions while your playing them? When playing a violent game i dont actually concentrate on the violence, its more an afterthought. 5. [If applicable] Do you feel that you have grown more violent or less violent since playing violent game(s)? I dont believe i have changed more or less violent at all, im not a physically violent person. i believe that words solve most if not all problems or fights. 6. Do you believe that violent video games affect the actions of the player in real life. I am not more or less violent than i have ever been. I believe only idiots who believe that what takes place in the digital world somehow applies it to the real world. 7. What, in your opinion, effect kids’ violent actions most? Social upbringing, ethical and moral background, surroundings 8. Do you believe that there is a connection between violent games and violent kids? in small minute cases yes, but anyone who considers the violence within the video game is allowable in the real world is using the digital world as a vice and needs help. otherwise 99% of the world can decern right from wrong. 9. Do you agree or disagree to the banning or strict control of violent video games? If yes, what would a good minimum age (to play violent games) be? Again i refer to question 8, i believe the current ESRB rating is a valid rating source, but certain mature games of the past should now be re-reviewed like diablo or diablo 2. these games were once considered mature but now...i believe that this could be marked down to teen. 10. Any comments you would like to add concerning violent video games and violent kids? Video games used as a release from the real world can cause serious judgement problems between right and wrong and thuis causing extremities. but considering video game violence as a bell curve, 99% of the world satisgies the curve by being the average, only the extremities pop-up but are eventually filtered out. these people make video game violence and video games in general considered a bad influence. and people who have never played the game such as congressmen and senators belive that its wrong. well look at News broadcastings...most if not all is somehow referring to the decay of our social ladder and revolve around violence, killings, molestations, anger, burnings, religious debates. if one must concentrate on video game violence as such a strong influence on todays youth, just look at what is in the newspapers or news on television. the world reaks of cynicism and i continue to state my motto: persons alone are smart, people in masses are very dumb.(ill leave u all to interpret this when u experience an event that pertains to this motto) |

Pretty much, yes. Would be longer, but I try to keep it down, as I realize most people gloss over anything more than a paragraph for some reason.
You're welcome.
And the link. Don't forget the link. Make your teacher play it. By the way, did anyone notice this?

The Survey 1. Do you, or do you not play video games? What is the motivation? I play video games to escape from the horror that is my life, my mom, and all the problems that is my family. 2. Do you play violent video games? Can you name a few? Depends on your definition of violet, some games that are rated M are: Diablo II, C&C Renegade, Unreal,... 3. Are you aware of the ESRB rating of the games? Do you honour it? Yeah, I do. I make sure to keep it in mind, but usually that's all I do, keep it in my mind. If I really want the game, then who cares about the rating, I want it. 4. If you play violent video games, what motivates you to play them? Can you describe your feelings or emotions while your playing them? I play violent video games only because the storyline or gameplay of the games is really good. 5. [If applicable] Do you feel that you have grown more violent or less violent since playing violent game(s)? I don't feel that I have changed, but I think even if I had, I wouldn't sense it myself as a change, though I am pretty sure I haven't. 6. Do you believe that violent video games affect the actions of the player in real life. Only if you let them. That holds true with most things, in fact. 7. What, in your opinion, effect kids’ violent actions most? Peer pressure and what their parent(s) show as examples. Media has a big effect as well. 8. Do you believe that there is a connection between violent games and violent kids? No, I think violence is caused by a combination fo several factors, many have nothing to do with games. 9. Do you agree or disagree to the banning or strict control of violent video games? If yes, what would a good minimum age (to play violent games) be? Disagree. As I said, they are games, if you let them affect you, it is because you let them, not because they brainwashed you. 10. Any comments you would like to add concerning violent video games and violent kids? Said all I need to say. |

I know this is slightly off topic, but it's still kinda relevant and i didn't see the point in starting a whole new thread for it. But people are now looking into 'violence' in Nursery Rhymes to see if they have an impact on how kids behave when they are older eg. Georgie Porgie, Jack and Jill, Humpty Dumpty, Rock a bye baby. I think this whole thing is a complete joke, just seems to me they'll go through anything just to find a culprit for the way kids are today, when generally the main factor as I believe, and as mentioned before by PhranK, is parental neglect. |

The Survey 1. Do you, or do you not play video games? What is the motivation? I do play games. Some because of the cool story, some because of action, or when angry, to let go of my anger, instead of breaking things ![]() 2. Do you play violent video games? Can you name a few? Yes. Doom 3, Resident Evil and such. 3. Are you aware of the ESRB rating of the games? Do you honour it? I am aware, and i think it's OK that they put it on the boxes, if you're a parent and not sure of what the game is like, you can check this out, i understand that you don't want your five year old to play Resident Evil or Manhunt. I personally don't look at the ratings though. 4. If you play violent video games, what motivates you to play them? Can you describe your feelings or emotions while your playing them? I mostly play the games when i'm angry, so i can release the anger, play a violent game for a while and you will calm down. It's not good to stay angry, and perhaps go fighting or breaking stuff, when i go play a game when angry i will calm down, because you're able to let go of your anger. It really works. 5. [If applicable] Do you feel that you have grown more violent or less violent since playing violent game(s)? I never really been violent, i avoid fights and trouble. But as i said before, i let go my anger in a game. When gaming i am "released" of my anger, else i might stay angry and then it can happen that i go breaking stuff and be violent, so i guess it makes me less violent. 6. Do you believe that violent video games affect the actions of the player in real life. That depends on the one who plays it. Some people seem not to notice the difference between fiction and realitiy. They see something in a game, movie or even on the news(Iraq for instance) and they think "it's cool". You should be aware of the fact that there are such people, but it is hard to keep them away of the games. you can't banish games/movies, the people i desribed before can be 20 years, so an age limit is not really an option for that. I do not know what you can do about that. But i don't think that the games make a person violent, it needs more. 7. What, in your opinion, effect kids’ violent actions most? Not sure, but actions of a group is a high factor i think, if a kid is in a group, he is more likely to do something he would normally not do. 8. Do you believe that there is a connection between violent games and violent kids? No. As i stated before, some people have a violent nature, they will always try things, if they see something in a movie, game or anywhere, they will do it again. This is not the fault of a game, if a violent kid can't get his ideas from a game, he wil take it from a movie, or even from the news. 9. Do you agree or disagree to the banning or strict control of violent video games? If yes, what would a good minimum age (to play violent games) be? I disagree, i think most people know what they see or play is fiction, and not reality, they know it wouldn't be right to do in real life. But some people do not know that, and that is not needed to be bound with a specific age, these people are in this world and they always will be, banning media would not change it much, they will see things in real life, and mimic that. 10. Any comments you would like to add concerning violent video games and violent kids? Those people that mimic things from games/movies, and can't seem to understand it's wrong, should be helped in some way, i do not know how, but there should be some way i think. Banning media would not help i think, but i cannot think of another option myself |

The Survey 1. Do you, or do you not play video games? What is the motivation? I do, but only because I have nothing else to do. 2. Do you play violent video games? Can you name a few? I can't say I really do... 3. Are you aware of the ESRB rating of the games? Do you honour it? Yes, most of the time, I honor it... 4. If you play violent video games, what motivates you to play them? Can you describe your feelings or emotions while your playing them? Again, my motivation is whenever I have nothing else to do. Feelings...I don't really feel anything. Maybe on a boss level, I feel anxous, but otherwise...nill. 5. [If applicable] Do you feel that you have grown more violent or less violent since playing violent game(s)? I think I have stayed about as violent as I was before I played them. 6. Do you believe that violent video games affect the actions of the player in real life. No, unless they're obsessed. 7. What, in your opinion, effect kids’ violent actions most? Usually if they're naive enough, they take fantasy games, like the ones described in thus survey, like reality, and hence, become more violent. 8. Do you believe that there is a connection between violent games and violent kids? Not all of the time, but it could happen, in my opinion. 9. Do you agree or disagree to the banning or strict control of violent video games? If yes, what would a good minimum age (to play violent games) be? A good minimum age, I think should not be done, but when the parent/guardian believes their child is ready for them. Each child matures at a different age, you know. ![]() 10. Any comments you would like to add concerning violent video games and violent kids? |

Hi there.

The Survey 1. Do you, or do you not play video games? What is the motivation? Yes i play video games. Motivation? Just to have fun. waste a few hours with friends 2. Do you play violent video games? Can you name a few? Yes i do. GTA:VC, GTA:SA, Mortal Kombat: Deception, all Resident Evil games, Manhunt, Postal 1 and 2, DOOM 3. 3. Are you aware of the ESRB rating of the games? Do you honour it? Yes i am aware of them. I dont care what a group of people have to say, i know if the game is appropriate for me or not. 4. If you play violent video games, what motivates you to play them? Can you describe your feelings or emotions while your playing them? What motivates me to play them? Well since i know i cant kill people in real life why not kill people in a game, where no one actually gets hurt? My feelings when playing them? Joy and many other emotions like that. Do you feel that you have grown more violent or less violent since playing violent game(s)? Im not a violent person but killing someone in a game dosent me angry and want to kill actual people. 6. Do you believe that violent video games affect the actions of the player in real life. I do believe this, BUT, it dosent make all people violent people in real life, if you do get violent from playing a violent game then there is something psychologicaly wrong with you and you need to get checked out, because normal people know that its just a videogame and can tell the diffrence between whats right in a game and whats right in real life, if you cant distinguish between the two there is something seriousley wrong. 7. What, in your opinion, effect kids’ violent actions most? There are too many factors that come in to play here, it could be they're homelife, something in school that happened so many diffrent reasons that can affect childrens actions. 8. Do you believe that there is a connection between violent games and violent kids?Yes as i said before, but only if there is something psychologicaly wrong with you. 9. Do you agree or disagree to the banning or strict control of violent video games? If yes, what would a good minimum age (to play violent games) be? Yes i do disagree, its a free country we should be able to play what we want but violent games ARE NOT good for younger children i believe a good minimum age would be 14 by then you should be mature enough to play them. 10. Any comments you would like to add concerning violent video games and violent kids? Yes, I dont like that people blame people being violent on not just games but music they listen to, movies they watch etc. they're are many reasons for people to be violent and its rarely because of games music or movies. But people need some reason as to why they were violent so lets just start a blame game. No thats not how things should happen. they're should be an ESRB rating but they should have people from the age group the game was created for rating them and also having Pschologists rating them to know if people of a certain age would be mature enough to handel it because those are the people who really know. |

Are you aware of the ESRB rating of the games? Do you honour it? Yes... Haha, more like "Does anybody honour it?" 4. If you play violent video games, what motivates you to play them? Can you describe your feelings or emotions while your playing them? When I'm bored. Emotions: WEEEEEE *squish*. 5. [If applicable] Do you feel that you have grown more violent or less violent since playing violent game(s)? What type of stupid question is this :r... less. 6. Do you believe that violent video games affect the actions of the player in real life. Only if they r really really weird . 7. What, in your opinion, effect kids’ violent actions most? Porn . 8. Do you believe that there is a connection between violent games and violent kids? Hmmmm.... NO. 9. Do you agree or disagree to the banning or strict control of violent video games? If yes, what would a good minimum age (to play violent games) be? Age should be lowered to 3+ tbh. 10. Any comments you would like to add concerning violent video games and violent kids? The Survey 1. Do you, or do you not play video games? What is the motivation? Yes I do play video games, just because its fun. 2. Do you play violent video games? Can you name a few? What do you reffer to as violent? If a shooter is violent I'd say yes but I don't think all shooters are violent. 3. Are you aware of the ESRB rating of the games? Do you honour it? Nope. 4. If you play violent video games, what motivates you to play them? Can you describe your feelings or emotions while your playing them? Mostly because it can give a good feeling, or, sometimes it's just fun to kill some alien scum because those bunch of anal probers want to take over the earth, so I kill some, and I get real violent, and run outside to beat up some kids playing on the field!!!.. But, I dunno, it really depends on the kind of game.5. [If applicable] Do you feel that you have grown more violent or less violent since playing violent game(s)? Lol, this is such a ridiculous question, of course not. 6. Do you believe that violent video games affect the actions of the player in real life. Nope. nope. nope.. No. 7. What, in your opinion, effect kids’ violent actions most? The way the are raised, their "friends" they play with, the sort of inviroment they grow up in.. that sort of stuff. 8. Do you believe that there is a connection between violent games and violent kids? I do not. 9. Do you agree or disagree to the banning or strict control of violent video games? If yes, what would a good minimum age (to play violent games) be? 15 would be good enough for all games, I mean, if you can't separate whats real and virtual you need to grow up or you have a mental problem. 10. Any comments you would like to add concerning violent video games and violent kids? :/ Its all bullmullet. All those studies are made by people who are against games, because it's not good for your health, and all that crap. If they did a study on normal people who game I'm pretty damn sure that there would be very little to no connection to that crap at all. People who kill others because they saw it in a game aren't normal people, they are either raised by bad parrents with crappy thoughs how to raise them or they have a serious mental problem, people just don't kill other people because they saw it in a game, if it surely was so I'd prolly killed my whole family and neighbourhood just because I game alot. Bah.
