The Survey 1. Do you, or do you not play video games? What is the motivation? I play video games quite frequently. I review games, and preview them at times. It's out of personal enjoyment, more often than not. 2. Do you play violent video games? Can you name a few? Just about every video game in the industry has some type of "violence" in it, now. Whether it's "mild animated violence" or something more extreme. I'm pretty sure you're looking for the extreme ones, so I'll give you Unreal Tournament, Grand Theft Auto, Bushido Blade 2, Manhunt, and plenty more... 3. Are you aware of the ESRB rating of the games? Do you honour it? Quite aware. I'm legally able to play any game, minus those that are marked "Adults Only (18+)" ... 4. If you play violent video games, what motivates you to play them? Can you describe your feelings or emotions while your playing them? A lot of different things. Depends on the situation. For example, when we have LAN Parties, we play Unreal Tournament to prove who's the better player. Sometimes I play to relieve some tension, or if I'm just downright angry. I don't think there are many things that could relax me more than watching a friend take a rocket to the face, in a LAN Party. 5. [If applicable] Do you feel that you have grown more violent or less violent since playing violent game(s)? Quite less violent. Before I had the opportunity to release tension through violent games, I would often get into arguments, and just snap at the slightest provocation. 6. Do you believe that violent video games affect the actions of the player in real life. "Only for the truly stupid or mentally/socially maladjusted." 7. What, in your opinion, effect kids’ violent actions most? See PhranK's post. 8. Do you believe that there is a connection between violent games and violent kids? Not really. I don't think anyone else could describe it better than PhranK did, though. 9. Do you agree or disagree to the banning or strict control of violent video games? If yes, what would a good minimum age (to play violent games) be? No one has the right to ban video games. Strict control isn't a good idea, either. As mentioned previously, it should be left up to the parents as to what they let into their house. 10. Any comments you would like to add concerning violent video games and violent kids? Any moron who suggests that violent games produce violent people obviously doesn't play video games, so how can he/she judge? Hypocrites ... |
