Monitor Trouble

I'm having some trouble with my monitor. The screen is all messed up.

That probably wasn't worded well, so I'll explain. My screen doesn't take up the entire space of the monitor. It's aligned to the top left so the bottom and right part of the screen are just black blank. I've searched through help files and can't find anything. Can anyone help?

And I hope that what I said makes sense... if not just tell me and I'll try to explain it better.

Push the buttons on the front of the monitor. Mess with the settings until you get what you want.

I had a similar problem where when I turned on my monitor after all night, and the picture would be going off the screen, and then it would slowly adjust itself to correctness on it's own after about half and hour. Messed with some controls and it went away. It's one of the stranges things I've ever seen happen to a screen.

Does anyone happen to know what would happen to a monitor that has been exposed to a magnet for extended periods of time would do? I mean, like describe what would happen.

Try resetting you monitor settings back to their default values. That should rectify the problem.

nothing would happen but extreme color distoration but you hit the buton with a magnet on it or the deagues buttong it fixes itself but if its an old monitor you may need to buy a deagasing wand which fixes all crt monitors and tv's if are exposed to magnet for long time

The colors wouldn't be right. Say you had a picture of your friends outside displayed on the monitor. They might have purple faces or the sky might be red or the trees might appear blue.

Okay, I thought that was correct, but I wasn't sure if I was mixing it up with some other montior trouble.

And when pushing the buttons in the front produces a different menu screen or the screen has a rainbow look, unplug the monitor for a second. Then proceed to fixing your settings back to how they were.

sometimes you only need to just wiggle the plug if it has a dodgy connection.
